I thought she was great. t's interesting that Bioware thought her kind of views valid enough to make a companion like that. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting pounded in the head with the Pro-mage freedom perspective, so she was a breath of fresh air.

My issue with her is not her stance on the Mages, that is absolutely fine. My issue with her is that she is simply an abhorrent person and almost every view she has is for the sole purpose of boosting her own clout. In true roleplaying fashion, because I got sentenced with her as my Divine (god dammit) I could honestly see her on the end of a beating from my Inquisitor at some point down the road.

Having said that I take no issue with her inclusion as a companion, I think it's good to have characters in the game you dislike because often you take help out of necessity rather than because you're buddy buddy - that's just a bonus.

Additionally, it allows for a companion you'll get on with well if you roleplay a headcase as the Inquisitor.

Except that she right out says she doesn't know...

Where does she say that?

As far as I know Vivienne was first trained in a Circle. So she must know life in the Circle, right?

I was rather pleased that I could reason with her and picking the half measure options usually got approval from her.

She never got into the team though as Solas is my default mage maybe when I ditch Bull at some point after I'm done fiddling with a 2 tank set up.

But then there's Dorian... So I dunno.

She didn't remain there for very long. So she knows what it's like but not what it is like to spend one's entire life there.

How about you read the whole post not just the first sentence and then jump to conclusions?

Already did. I see nothing wrong with it. A man can be a b**** just a much as a woman. Vivienne's a b****, that doesn't mean I want to do evil things to her. People are too quick to judge.

I read the whole post and he says nothing about the colour of her skin. Although I wonder if he would say the same about a male version. If he would then its not misgonystic either

Dorian is great.

I used to rotate all my party membes but honestly by the end Vivienne never saw the light of day. If she'd been in my party any longer there would've been an awful lot of Friendly Fire occurring.

Sigh, again you obviously didn't.

The post didn't say the OP was any of those things, he/she said those things would come out in this thread at some point so get ready.

Again, the post says it'll happen in the thread, not that the OP said it.

Me too, I can't stand her, she's so stuck up! Hehehe! :D

I hate having the mages discussion with her, she's like, 'oh mages should all be kept in circles it was wonderful for me!'

She points out that every circle treats mages differently but seems have the attitude of 'my life is perfect as a mage, I'm living in luxury' lets not rock the boat. Not one bit of sympathy or empathy for other less fortunate mages.

However I'm glad she's there, I love putting her in the ugliest mage outfits and taking her to the nastiest places! :D

I tend to judge characters from my Inquisitor's point of view. One playthrough, she's an annoying appendage of the Inquisition that can't keep her opinions to herself, in another she's my respected colleague and yet in another she's... that woman that stands in solitude and nobody ever talks to.

Great character that you can both hate and love at the same time.  ;)

Well, if you hate her OP, then she succeeded as a character. Love and hatred are what should be evoked in a character. Not necessarily both, though I suppose one could feel both.

Me, I like her, dislike her, admire her, and... pity her? Pity's probably not the right word, but I don't think she's as great at the Game as she likes to believe she is. But I will say her Cole conversations shed a lot of light on who she is beneath the iron exterior.

Yeah I mean let's consider Baldur's Gate - that had alot of characters available who weren't exactly nice people.

She fully admits Kirkwall was a mess. And fully admits to Templar abuses -- and encourages to speak out and try to change them. Her point was that the Rebellion picked the wrong time to air all of this out. Anders just blew up the Chantry.. having a rebellion made it look like they supported him.

Alright, thanks for that.

That wasn't what I was getting at. I said "Vivienne knows what it's like to live in a Circle." Of course she doesn't fully know what it's like as, like you said, she didn't spend her whole life in a Circle. But I think she can get a pretty good understanding of it.

Not saying if they were right or wrong just that it wasn't against the OP.

Let's be honest though, every single opinion the woman has is purely centred around herself. If something is good for her, it's good. There could be a million and one examples to the contrary but nope, it's all good.

Depends. I think it's one of those things that likely grates on you more and more the longer you're there. Being there for a few years might be a bit of a negative but for your entire life? Never knowing anything else or living a normal life for any period of time? Yeah I think that'd make it completely intolerable.

Hahaha, like I said in my Inquisition world I could honestly see my Inquisitor casting her down at some point in the near future.

I was talking about this:

Racist misogynistic and wrong. Just thought I'd say how this thread will look in an hour so you can prep.

Which looks like this translated:

inb4 they call you racist, misogynistic and wrong.

He DIDN'T call the OP that, but thought someone would.

Like Myrmedus just pointed out, she said she doesn't know what it's like to spend your life there. But she does know what it's like to live in the Circle. Which is an essential difference.

I said "Vivienne knows what it's like to live in a Circle." Of course she doesn't fully know what it's like as, like what was said, she didn't spend her whole life in a Circle. But I think she can get a pretty good understanding of it.
