I can understand 'Coat' and 'Mail' variations of Heavy Armors looking lighter and more agile, but the heaviest of the heavies, Heavy Armor's 'Armor' variation looking like a it is made out of thin leather straps really baffles me.
Is this some kind of a design bug where devs misplaced the textures? or is this how it's supposed to look?
Where are all the plate-looking real heavy armors?
We know it's in the game - we can even see guardsmen wearing them around, ex) Emprise du Lion guards, etc.
the Orlesian armour looks more impressive, and so do some of the unique specific armours you can find or schematics you can find. Legion of the Dead armor (sadly dwarf only) is very plate-looking. Finally, armor looks different on different people. Superior battlemaster (I think that's the one) armor has lots of leather or padding on cassandra or blackwall, but a huge metal breastplate on Iron Bull.
It's the same doubt that I posted on another topic. Either there is a pretty bad texture bug, or the designers simply failed. IB is the only one who gets nice looking heavy armor, but even so, I find that in some cases the mail/coat variations look more massive than the armor. Iron Bull is the perfect example: his mail is massive, while in armor he is bare chested save for a leather pauldron on one of his shoulders.
Warden armour, templar armour, battlemaster mail with both mail arms and legs, legion of the dead armour and orelsian amour are the heaviest ones in the game.
I really miss the look of some of the DAO massive armours like the Dragonbone and Juggernaught.
Yeah, disappointing there's only three massive armors in the game and they're all faction specific.
