Great production value? Check.

Big battles (or at least a big battle)? Check.

 

Naked chick wielding a sword? Check, check, check.

 

I've seen the first episode, and it's pretty good so far. Of course, i'll have to see the first season in its in entirety before I can know just how good it truly is. The opening is pretty artistic and I think pretty unique, what with its brush-stroke style and all. 

 

If you're looking for shows that have a heavy historical element to them, then you can watch this one. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the new Netflix series.

 

(I would also suggest watching Da Vinci's Demons and Vikings.)

I saw the first three episodes, and it seemed rather silly. Costco brand Game of Thrones masquerading as history, really.

Don't listen to the critics. I finished it recently and it's a pretty good show. The characters (particularly the Khan and his heir, not to downplay the title character or anything) are pretty well-written and the action is finely crafted.

I agree, it was a decent show and I'm glad it was renewed for a second season. It's going to be interesting to see where they go with the show now that the Song dynasty has been toppled. Speaking of the Song Dynasty I liked the Chancellor and was even rooting for him towards the end. He seemed very competent in the show, even though historically he was really incompetent.

 

Interesting fact, the guy who plays Marco Polo didn't speak English before this role.

Holy schiz, that's actualy really impressive then?

 

I also liked the show. I enjoy the Shogun-atmosphere, makes it somewhat different from other show out there.

If the naked chick is in Christian Europe or Muslim Middle East... series directors have dropped the balls it seems.

 

BTW the Chinese have always been the best until 16th century (shared their #1 of the world with Achaemenids and Romans though).

It would be a much better show without Marco Polo, mainly because I thought he stunk as the lead and all the secondary characters rocked way harder at being leads than him.
