That's what I've been doing for the last 20 hours of game time. Trying to complete things without ending up massively overleveled.
I wish (here's the suggestion) I could opt to gain influence instead of xp for kills. Just like, a switch in the options that I can enable/disable.

No, I don't do much of that. I go to zones with mats I want and gather. But while I'm there I have to fight baddies, and still end up bumping my xp a whole lot just cause I wanted to get some everite or something. Same with sidequests. Just want to complete the quest but don't want to burn through levels doing it.
