Do they have more than 1 use? If I used them to open doors as soon as I get them, then thats fine right? I don't need them for anything later?

They are like gold you spend x shards to open doors to get plus x resistance... its a waste of time imo i can make gear for a fraction of the time
I need some raw runestones I'm hoping to get some in there. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to save them. I won't be getting ALL of them, but I do have a stockpile I can currently use.
thanks.

Raw runestones? Why not buy them in the skyhold store?

You're misunderstanding something here. You can't use shards for anything but for the doors in the Oasis. Raw Runestones you can just purchase in Skyhold for an amount. What raging_monkey is talking about is that you get belts of elemental resistances within the doors. They grant ice/spirit/fire belts of resistances all the way up to 30%, IIRC.

ah so thats where u get them! I got skyhold on a warrior class, but minutes after getting it I decided that I didn't like playing warrior much and restarted. Don't have it again yet and never got the chance to explore it. thanks for the info.

I had saw a lot of people complaining about the shards so I thought there was something that required you to get them all that was not "optional"
unless the temple is required as part of the game and I just don' tknow it yet.

Don't worry you can safely ignore them.

The Oasis, and by extension the shards, are a completely optional section of the game. I actually stopped activating Oculari (I'm assuming that's the plural) after Crestwood and the Hinterlands, just so that my map didn't end up cluttered by a crap ton of markers I didn't really want to bother with.
