I just finished the "Here lies the abyss quest" and cheked out of curiosity how much REAL content i have left, and i saw that only 4 major quest are left...........................................................

Are you kidding me?, i mean is this for real?, how much time will it take me to end the game then?... 6 hours maybe?, i mean without all that garbage MMO grinding they force on you....

If thats true then just WOW, this will become a pretty mediocre game overall, how in the world they thought it was a good idea to put a lot of meaningless sidequest and not invest that time in ACTUAL MEANINGFUL CONTENT.

They wanted to copy that hard skyrim that they shortened they story by bethesdas mediocre standards....

Not to mention all the dumbed down combat and "tactics", they just managed to create a beautiful meaningless world seriously, i mean if you want a single MMORPG then this is the game for you if you wanted Dragon Age well, even DA2 has better meaningful content than this.

Meaningful content is subjective. Plot fans are annoyed that there isn't much actual story, fans of characterisation tend to be more satisfied though.

There are 500k words of voiced dialogue in the game, so there is plenty of content. Whether you're a fan of where they placed that content is a case by case thing.

Combat will continue to be "actiony" because slow paced, traditional RPG combat doesn't exactly appeal to the masses.

EDIT: Words not lines. Stupid typo by me.

The OP's reaction is exactly the one I had whilst playing the game, and I logged onto the forums expecting to find many who are like-minded, only to find to my surprise that that is not the case.

DA:I's main quest isn't shorter than DA:O's main quest path.

That's probably why most people don't have an issue with it. The difference with DA:I is there is a lot more side content than there was in DA:O.

The story length upsets me since I was actually really enjoying it. It also worries me for the future of Dragon Age. :(

You're really missing out not doing the side quests that add to the story considerably.

On a rush playthrough of DAI, I clocked in around 20 hours. No different from my playthroughs of each ME game or DA2/DAO. Lets tone down the hyperbolic worries about the future of story in the game. It's also worth noting that the majority of the sidequests tie into the main plot in one way or another. So it isn't as if its disconnected from the main story in any way.

There are people all over who agree with you. But each of these threads gets people either defending the fluff or claiming it's tied into the story but not really saying how. Maybe they can't without spoiling.

It's tied into the story means it's tied into the story. If you choose not to believe it, then so be it. You're not hurting anyone's experience but your own.

Also it's worth nothing that DA:I's main quest branches, whereas DA:O's did not. The Mage/Templar choice results in a couple completely different quests that you don't see on the other path.

Well in DA:O the game at least is a 40 hour game and that 40 hours are of MEANINGFUL content, story quests and cinematic sidequest with actual choices involved, i dont care if i get to kill a bunch of monsters or to collect some shards or play with the constelations i want MEANINGFUL content, i mean i bought DA game not skyrim, so i was expectign MORE from the story seriously.

I've been more disappointed with the quality of the main missions than the quantity of them so far. It's very Skyrim in this regard - some of the side quests / random things you wander into are better than the pantomimey main storyline.

Rose-tinted nostalgia glasses. DA:O had even more annoying fetch sidequests than DAI, where they can largely be ignored or done on the side, accidentally, when you're doing the cool sidequests.

You have to be joking.  At least the fetch quests in Origins had conversations whereas the NPCs in Inquisition cannot even bother to have a conversation.  "Oh, you're the only who can close those nasty Rifts?  Please fetch me some herbs.  Get me a pillow while you're at it sla..I mean Herald."  End dialogue.  There's so little conversing in Inquisition, and that feels really weird in a franchise that has typically been about conversing.

Oh you are the last Wardens in Fereldan and the only ones who can stop the Blight? never mind that can you make some traps? help me with my girlfriend, run these chantry board quests and fetch some herbs for the Mage's collective while you're at it?

we can do the same thing with every Bioware game and most likely every RPG ever created.

I think there's some fun plot developments. Like....

Western Approach has a Venatori Note indicates **** going down in Emerald Graves.

Emerald Graves has people being kidnapped to Emprise Du Lion.

Head to Emprise Du Lion and strike a badass blow against the enemy.

Or end up in the Emerald Graves cause Dalish in Exalted Plains says "Yo, my friend is looking at a temple over there."

Or end up in the Emerald Graves because the Dragon Researcher says there's a Dragon somewhere over there and you want to hunt it down.

Or end up in the Emerald Graves just for the heck of it.

I'm weary of having to point out that the different purposes fetch quests serve in each game, so I'll just point out the obvious.

What about the main/companion quests you conveniently ignore when assessing the situation?

Are you arguing that the companion quests in DAO are as complex and interesting as the DAI ones?

Ah yes...those 2 minute companion quests were so much fun and always very interesting. Get Oghren laid! Teleport from zone to zone to find Sten's sword!

Not to mention the main story quests which were more or less linear, only branching at the very end...sometimes even requiring persuasion to make them interesting.

Seriously...continuing to QQ about what's always "missing" while ignoring what's present is just... bah.

Whoever is talking about the companions quest, the chantry etc is deluding themselves because we are clearly talking about the cinematic sidequest that involved choices not those quest, no one is saying that those kind of content should be non existant, we said it SHOULD NOT BE ABUNDANT IN THE GAME.

Just like in real life, people are free to ask. Just like in Inquisition, there are people in real life making outrageous requests from people with far more important things to do. And, just like in real life, you don't have to do what these people ask in Inquisition.

Quests for DA:O
Alistair - Talk to sister.
Sten - Go to three places. Talk to someone.
Leliana - One ambush, one optional fight.
Morrigan - Kill a dragon/Flemeth.
Wynne - Go to student in the woods. Holla.
Shale - Explore DLC location.
Oghren - Get Oghren laid.

Quests for DA:I
Vivienne - Hunt and kill a Wyvern
Varric - Go through the Carta and seal off an entrance to Red Lyrium.
Solas - Destroy the seal binding a demon.
Cassandra - Go to the Seeker Fortress and uncover what happened to them.
Sera - Kill a noble man's soldiers and decide what to do with him.
Iron Bull - Kill Venatori and make a decision impacting Bull.
Cole - Choose how his character develops.
Dorian - Cutscene with his dad.
Blackwall - Cutscenes and War Table Mission.
Leliana - Chantry and cutscenes.
Josephine - Uncover Assassination Plot and deal with it. Maybe get laid.
Cullen - Lyrium addiction.

Honestly DA:I had better companion quests, overall.  DA2 focused on combat alot, DA:O was short and to the point mostly, and DA:I mixed the two.

There's a lot of interesting side quests as well. Companion's quest are at least DA2 level (IMHO they're better, because they're not so combat centered). Main story missions are far better done and at least as long (I'd say they're longer) as in DA:O.

You may get an illusion that DA:O's main story was longer because... it's main story locations were filled with dull sidequests - so you did those, delaying the main story and thinking that this still counts as one.

In Inquisition, main quests are focused - you have a particular, one thing to do in the given location. You aren't distracted by various (often boring) side quests in main story locations.

Measure the time it takes to only finish your main objective in DA:O - disregarding other stuff you did - and tell me how long that game was.

I like the companion quests. It reminds me of in Mass Effect- screwing them up will make the companion either dislike you or be REALLY disappointed in you.

Some of the quests (that I won't mention to not spoil) I was running around kind of panicked not knowing how it was going to turn out, not having a clear picture of what I should and shouldn't do. I tried making decisions at 2 am in the morning, which I don't recommend, btw.
