So, my wife picked up our pre-ordered CE at GameStop this morning, and when she inquired about our Terminus code, she was told by the kid behind the counter, "Oh, it's in the box." She of course took him at his word, and got home about ten minutes ago with no Terminus code to speak of. After informing her that they never come in the box (and tearing apart our CE just to make doubly sure), we very politely called the store (which, by the way, is one town over and a 30-40 minute drive away) and asked where our code was. He again said it was in the box. Now my wife's only a fledgeling gamer, but she's smart enough to figure out when someone's messing with her. After 3 or 4 minutes of repeatedly explaining the concept of 'pre-order' to him, in a steadily hardening tone of voice, he suddenly and very conveniently 'discovered' a whole pile of pre-order codes right within reach of the store's phone. After a few more minutes of wrangling him, we managed to get him to give us a code over the phone, and we didn't let him go until I had typed into the social site and verified it.

We've never had a problem with that sort of thing, though I do recall a few times being told "Oh, we don't get pre-order items/codes in Canada". In this case though, we called a week before hand to verify they'd have stock on the day, and also the Terminus codes. My wife is convinced it was not a simple mistake, and that it's because
she gives off the 'business-casual-woman that knows nothing about those
games this is for my kid' vibe, and I believe her. Mass Effect 2 is a
pretty high profile game, and most stores had their stock of the game
weeks ago, so it's not likely that he 'didn't know' about the pre-order
codes.

The little punk was probably planning on keeping them for himself/friends, or selling them
on eBay. We plan on calling the store's manager later, as that kid was
the only one working at store open this morning.

Has anyone else has issues like this, where they were lied to by a GS employee, and they were caught red-handed?

(Game's finished installing now, rant over, off to play. :D )

When you pick up your copy of the game they were supposed to provide you with a separate card that contained the download card for the Terminus pre-order bonus. Gamestop has always done this for their games (seeing as how they can't put it inside the box). Although what you say may have merit, because I know for certain there were not enough Terminus codes shipped out to stores. Don't be discouraged however, because you WILL receive a code once Gamestop's Head Office emails more codes out.

Jeezus.

Makes me glad I don't shop at GameStop ever since they took one of my co-workers entire stolen DVD collection. (Which were stolen by her sister and the money used to buy drugs)

You say they had a whole pile of them? They friggin ran out of ones for Brutal Legend when I picked mine up in-store. That's kinda why I don't do in-store pickups anymore. Sure you get it sooner, but it's a waste of 2 hours and you run the risk of getting totally gipped.

I never shop at them. Ever. My friend GUSHES over them though...I've never liked em. Every used game I've had has some issue. For instance...my Sonic Adventure 2 Battle game; It has burn marks in the inside of the disc. They told me it would run fine. I later find out that's from a result of someone attempting to copy the disc, and supposedly the GC 'burns' the inside of the disc to prevent it. Regardless of whether it's true....Occasionally, characters will just FLY off rails for no reason, or in some cases, get stuck at level starts...
