You could have your mage automatically cc a high level enemy?

Or how you could have an archer snipe out low health enemies?

Or how you could have the tank taunt anyone attacking your squishies?

Or how you could have anyone actively try to start and or trigger ability combos?

I made a party of 3 dw rogues and by the time I was able to get enough tactics slots I could auto pilot fights on nightmare without a tank.

I haven't played Origins in a long time but after enjoying Inquisition I find that I am sorely missing that clunky weird beautiful tactics screen with all of its options. Do I prefer you to use Warcry Cassandra? Yes but please only do it when there's 3 or more enemies around you.

Yea,but having the computer do everything I wanted without any action on my part got boring after a while. Never felt the need to switch characters.

But you had option to set it all up OR not. We have none now.

You must have not played Origins on a pc. It is so very different from the tactics screen you're given. You could do stuff like

1. self, any: stealth

2. self, health <=20%: use health pot

3. self: being attacked by melee: Dirty Fighting

4. self, surrounded by no enemies: jump to 7

5. enemy, any: attack

6. enemy, frozen: use ability Assassinate

7. enemy, far: switch to ranged

It would be better if like in KotOR you could que actions. I don't know. In Origins when you had few tactics slots you had to pause and direct everyone in combat but eventually you could just program all of your allies to be awesome all the time. In Inquisition you have to do a lot of babysitting for certain *cough rogue .. classes.

edit: looking at those tactics I would have to add one before 4 for enemy, medium - close: switch to melee to make it work. It really was clunky and hard to use but once you figured out the system it was easy to set up an efficient party member just took some time.

I know what you mean. The Tactics from DA:O or even DA2 were way better. I don't like to Interrupt the battle, command my followers and play again every 5 seconds only to have the best Combat outcome. Please Bioware, give us the old tactics back!

No. Because I always micro managed in DAO. What I do remember is having a UI that wasn't a POS so micromanagement was fun.

I wish!

But I strongly suspect they'll continue on the "Action Game" route.  I wouldn't be at all suprised to see DA:4 or 5 be an FPS.

But DA:O was good/deep enough I can keep replaying it from time to time when I want to play an RPG vice an action game.

Not everybody want to micro manage their team on every trash mobs spcially in DA:I where the mobs respawn fast

True that. And If you play on nightmare micromanagement is a must, even trash mobs can KO if your not on top of your game.

That was possible? I never used the AI-tactics though, only prevented Lelianna from going into melee, you have a bow, Red, use it! But other than that? Lots of options I hardly used, I was mostly too busy controlling Morrigan/Wynne to spam healing spells while my Warriors just did what they wanted. But I remember I could anihilate some groups of enemies with AOE-Magic without them ever reacting. Just like in good old BG...

Ah the days of the advanced tactics mod.. rlly hope they would add it via patch or something.
I played with 2 mages, an archer and a tank and i just looked at the tank standing doing nothing getting hit by ranged damage... pathetic.

Sometimes i think of the changes this title went through and fear for its future. Just keeps getting more simple and generic by the title.

At this point I would probably prefer if they just went full on Republic Commando / Brothers in Arms with it.

If tactics are used wisely, DA:O turns into an action game, where you don't have to pause or micromanage. DA2 tactics are even better as they are more complex ("use this condition for next tactic" or "jump to tactic").

DA:I is indecent, from this point of view.

Also, I wish to add that the lack of tactics make friendly fire umbearable in this game.

Good times. DAI will always lose 1 point /10 for me just for that reason.
