Hi

I would like to hear which DLCs are worth playing in DA:O but also in DA2.

I want a simple playthrough as possible (I would rather not finish every single side quest, but wanna do fun stuff), but I would like to play some DLCs if they are fun and bring a sort of meaning or purpose to the vanilla story.

Which DLCs are really worth it for the sake of epic immersion, and not just grind and superfluous characters that will be gone anyway (in regard to, whether some of these characters from DLCs would even reappear in DA:I?)

Thanks

Awakening is an almost essential if you are going to play DA2. The Stone Prisoner adds one of my favourite companions of all time. Wardens Keep is a nice side adventure and gives you a place to stow your stuff for the rest of DAO. After that, it falls off a bit. Witch Hunt is diverting and has some nice bits if your warden was a mage or Dalish. Golems is of great benefit if you plan on replaying DAO, but less so for any other reason. Return to Ostagar yields some nice in game items for DAO but is otherwise not so much. I have only played the Darkspawn one once. Leliana's prequel was diverting but added little as well.

As for DA2, there are only the Exiled Prince, the Black Emporium, Legacy, Mark of the Assassin and two item packs. The item packs are just that. They add gear. The Exiled Prince adds a companion for the whole scope of DA2. He is many peoples' least favourite companion. I like Sebastian, but I'm in the minority. Legacy and Mark of the Assassin are the two DLC's to grab here. Both have additional side adventures. Mark is just flat out fun. Legacy adds to the story line. I like the Black Emporium because I am easily amused by that sort of humour and I like to redesign my characters. The Black Emporium adds a store with a funny proprietor and the ability to redo your character in game.

Hope that helps!

Legacy adds to the story line.

And background information on one of the key characters in DAI.

mouse has pretty much got it down.

I'd say the 'essential' ones are:

DA:O

Stone Prisoner

Awakenings (expansion)

Witch Hunt

DA2

Exiled Prince

Legacy

Some of the others are fun (Warden's Keep, Mark of the Assassin), but add little to the overall experience.

Return to Ostagar gives a nice glimpse into a possible companion, but not much else besides.

The Black Emporium essentially just adds a pet, some powerful gear, and allows you to redesign your character.

Golems is just a dungeon crawl to test your (now absurdly highly-levelled) character.

Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana's Song are the most expendable. Narratively pointless, and I wouldn't even say they were particularly good/fun.

I have one recommendation...

You should try this mod....

http://www.nexusmods...id=242023&pUp=1

It's called... Tombs Of The UnDead. This is a very well done mod that feels just like an original dlc...

However, this mod is very hard though. Best equipped your characters and your companions best you can before entering.

I always have this mod in my playthrouhgs.

Having just dome some of these: Return to Ostagard or whatnot isn't terribly long......doesn't add to much time to the game.......Don't skip too many side missions, as it helps build up your level too

DAO

Awakening and Witch Hunt are a must. Golems of Amgarrok offers some interesting lore if you're into that. Return to Ostagar offers a chance to pick up your dog again if you missed it, offers some potential closure to Ostagar itself, and has some great dialogue with Alistair/Wynne or Loghain/Wynne. Stone Prisoner offers you a golem companion. The Warden's Keep or whatever its called provides some great equipment and you learn more of the Wardens and why they were exiled from Ferelden 200 years earlier. Plus each class can get two more abilities.

Pretty much every DLC.

DA2

Legacy is a must. Mark of the Assassin is really good, and a sarcastic Hawke really shines here. The Exiled Prince offers you a new companion. Black Emporium gives you a mabari and the ability to re customize your appearance.
