That is easily overcome. I did do that and still didn't have any issues my allianced mages.

but its show they arent 100% loyal to the Inquisition, the templar never question your's decision, and in the end they can all stay in the inquisition.

That just proves that the templars are spineless clowns that follow your every order no matter how d*ckish you behave. :P

More seriously though the whole tranquillity as punishment stuff was one of the prime reasons for the rebellion in the first place. It is kind of understandable that the mages won't be to thrilled.

Blessed are they who stand before
The corrupt and the wicked and do not falter.
Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just.

Y'all rebel mages need Jesus Ser Barris.

I don't think it has to do with a lack of loyalty per se so much as a questioning of why a mage would inflict such a judgement on one of our own. That makes sense to question. I think it is exactly what should happen. If you send the right option your Inquisitor will quell any hint of dissent bloodlessly and easily.

Well, before the game came out, I never expected I'd try to resolve the mage/templar situation by kicking out a Tevinter Magister before conscripting the mages myself, and that I actually would be tempted to go to the templars in my first playthrough.

Well you didn't have to harden Leliana. When she is 'soft', she makes a great and radical Divine. Best out of the three options at least.

That's what I did myself, she's basically been groomed as the next divine since Origins.

This is in Mass Effect 3, but never mind that.

Spoiler

That's one thing I never did in ME3, but in my last PT, I did
Spoiler
That was... just.. wow.

On topic, I chose the templars, and conscripted them. In all my DA experiences, I never picked the templars for anything, and my inquisitor is a mage. It's weird.

Good for you. Only the most naïve people could actually come out of that future and say "Hey, I know I just saw a terrible future where mages rules the earth and the consequences of mages making their own decisions = death and slavery for all, but I don't care: Mages, keep rebelling! I won't pull you back in line!"

You mean the future ruled by Corypheus, where mages and templars served him? It's a little dishonest to leave out the fact that the Elder One made that future happen with the help of both mages and templars.

The moment they got their freedom, they sold it to Tevinter and doomed the world (for one year).

You mean Fiona did, and we still have the context of Tevinter spies infiltrating the village under the guise of refugees, the mages being blamed for the death of the Divine, Alexius using "time magic", and the mystery of Fiona's appearance in Orlais and her line about "feeling strange" when the Inquisitor brings up the meeting.

We may have erased that year, but that doesn't mean it didn't occur. And if we choose to not allow that future to happen, we go with the Templars...

Or the mages, if we're not being intellectually dishonest.

And the mages (even the Tevinter hesitant ones) stay with Fiona... Who comes to attack Haven personally. At least the Templars had to be tricked, purged and corrupted to go bad (And mind you, Red Lyrium can affect anyone) but the mages willingly went to war against the Inquisition.

The mages are manipulated, like the templars are, which is why either one will attack Haven if they become a thrall of Corypheus. When given the chance, they willingly embrace an alliance with the Inquisition.

I never expected to recruit the templars, either, but here I am doing their quest right now because I heard it's better than the mage quest story-wise.

Except in this particular case, it's Saruman the Mad doing his her usual thing.

The only thing worse than the Templars is Tevinter.

I think Fiona was annoying Pre-Inquisition but I was 100% on the rebellion camp.

Still am.

Just....God, I wish there was a way to remove her.

I dunno, Fiona chills out after the Redcliff stuff and allying with the Inquisition and with Leliana as Divine she actually rehabilitates the Mage's image in the South with the College of Enchanters.

I love spoilers but is it a problem if I conscript them and try to make Leliana divine?

Make sure you solve the Orlesian Civil War with Briala in a favorable position (e.g. she rules Orlais, Celene and Briala reconcile, or Gaspard becomes a puppet to Briala) and talk about changing the Chantry completely, not just reforming it, on top of discouraging Cassandra and Vivienne and encouraging Leliana to accepting the position.

I went with the templars this time. In DA2 I never sided with the templars. Though I did end up disbanding/conscripting them.

An implication is not a statement, but I'd love to see the quote none the less.

As for the OPs question, I don't really see an issue with conscripting the mages into the Inquisition.

They're my favourite class but I've always been about the middle ground when it comes to mage freedom and conscription was a surprisingly easy choice to make given the circumstances. Freedom comes with responsibilities and if you take over a village, kicking out anyone you don't like and then hand it over to a foreign power you have to pay for your actions.

I wish the game would let you say that's why you did it to Fiona, my dalish mage wasn't against other mages enjoying the freedom she had but she's a stickler for people paying for their crimes (things are not going to go well between her and Solas when/if she ever finds out he's the one behind Cory).

Kill all the templars in Dragon Age 2 and make them allies in inquisition.

The rebel mages deserves to be stopped and Fiona deserves to die.

And they do pay for it by getting kicked out of Fereldan. You want to rub salt in the wound as well?

I hate that I agree with this.
