Keep data didn't import - a few questions

When I started the game up, it said that it had sucessfully imported my data from the keep.  It didn't have me choose anything though, and I'm still very foggy how the PS4 understood what my Origin account was without me telling it.

However, it was clear early on that there were some issues.  Varrick mentioned Anders being alive in Haven (though he was dead in my game), and didn't mention any of my other DA2 companions - all of who were alive.  Today, in a conversation with Morrigan, she mentioned that the Warden from DAO was a woman, and mine was a man.  Hawke also appears to be a mage, though he was a warrior in my game.  It seems now that none of my data came across what so ever, and it wasn't just a bug here or there.

So the question is, without too many spoilers, are the other companions from DAO or DA2 involved in DAI in any way.  Other than of course the ones on the war table and Varrick?  IS there anything else that I may have chosen among the loads of choices in the keep that would have made a difference to me?

When I eventually start a second playthrough, I'd like it to be "my world", but it its too much trouble to work around, I guess I can live with the default again.

Default Warden is female, and default Hawke is a mage, so it appears that is what you got. You don't miss anything earthshattering by using the default world state (apart from the fact that it would clearly feel "wrong").

OK, thank you.  I liked the idea and the feel of the Keep, but no one could ever explain to me how it was supposed to import onto my PS4.  And if the choices that I make on there have little to no bearing on what happens in the game, aside from a line of conversation here or there, then whatever.

You did check the tutorials, right? I have four separate world state imports for my Xbone, and they have all imported just fine.

An important thing people overlook and The Keep didn't add until after the game launched is to pay attention that merely creating a world state is not enough, you have to manually click the "Import State to DAI" button and have it confirm for you (bonus points: give it a custom name, as it's the ONLY THING THE GAME SHOWS YOU when importing, even though it's the most ridiculously obvious thing they should have done, since they have already done it in DA2).

Thank you guys.  I had NOT seen those tutorials.  They would have been helpful.  Still, I'm 99% sure that I did things the right way.  I'll be extra careful and follow the instructions step for step the next time.

While in the Keep, after actually clicking Import to DAI, it will tell you to verify it. It will give you a number, for instant-- 12-12-1212 and the time.

When you start a new game on your system and import your save from the Keep, your number will pop up and you can see if they match. If so, it imported correctly. At least, that is how it works on xbox One.

The timestamp is indeed an excellent way to verify your import.

OK, thank you so much.  I honestly don't remember that step, so I may have missed it back when I did the Keep.  I'll absolutely make sure next time.  I don't recall it giving me any kind of name or number when I booted the game up with the PS4.  It just said that the game data had been imported from the keep, and I chose my world state rather than the default.  Kind of lousy that it would let you do that if the data wasn't really there.

There's a button saying export. Which was added before

@op here's how to check what your world is using

Thank you.  This clearly confirms that I'm using the default.

Oddly, though the two world states that I created are both still saved in there, the title picture for both is wrong, showing the female human Lyna.  Not hard to start from scratch next time to make sure I get it right I guess.

My first two starts were ... odd.

I fixed it by creating a new slot in the keep, and importing *that* one instead of editing the initial, default slot.

Hopefully that makes sense; in the keep, there's a default you can edit ... I properly imported (per the tutorials) each time, but got a mishmash of events.  I used the left menu in keep to make a new keep slot, edited and imported *that* one, and everything took properly.

On PC, so ymmv, but that's how I fixed my issues.

Time stamp is the word I was looking for. Thank you. I believe my stomach flu has rendered me incapable of remembering simple words. :P

When you start a new game and first make it to Haven, you can also do an in-game check on your world state. If you talk to a few of the NPCs-  such as Varric (about Hawke and the DA2 companions) and Quartermaster Threnn (about who's ruling Ferelden), you can get in-game verification as to whether or not everything's set correctly.

You can do it earlier. In the character creator (be warned backing out will leave a phantom in there) as soon as you start it a character shows up in the playthrough worldstates
