No Spoilers please. Why are we allowed to equip red lyrium onto our weapons? Isn't this lore breaking? Especially, after we know what it does in DA2. Just a simple yes or no answer, if I put red lyium into our characters weapons, will it impact them negatively, let's say for instance, Varric. It doesn't make sense. Can someone clarify?

no
That is, no negative impacts. No explanation why we can use it in runes.

I thought this too, about it being lore breaking. I've been using them in a lot of runes due to how much I have.

The first Red lyrium Rune was made back in DA2 by Sandal if Hawke does not give Varric the Red Lyrium.
The Process of turning Red Lyrium into a Rune results in the Red Lyrium becoming harmless to the user of the rune.
Sandal's knowledge about how to craft Red Lyrium Runes is most likely recorded and passed down to the Enchanters.
As for how the knowledge was obtained if Sandal never crafted the 1st Red Lyrium Rune I can only guess the process was eventually discovered during DAI or Dagna discovered it herself since she does make some crazy things.
