In both DA:O and DA:2, I found myself solidly in the pro-mage camp. If someone polled me now, I would probably say that I lean Templar and Circle. Even though Vivienne irritates me, I find her to be a persuasive spokesperson for the pro-Circle bloc.

Who else is shifting their position?

I'm still not sure we should be helping crazy people run amok.

Idk if I changed my mind actually, but I did tend to consistently go with "pro-templar" actions in this game. I guess I think mages have the right to try for their freedom, but shits way too crazy for them to do it right now (a common excuse for most leaders when it comes to change probably). I did feel like the templars were portrayed in a very good light during this game, outside of their leaders I guess. Barras seemed like a badass.

Considering shifting my position to Pro-Tevinter.

I sympathized with the Mages in Origins; Morrigan's argument against the circle was convincing but I did not flinch.

DA II, I was firmly Pro-Mage and then I learned of Orsino's mistakes and his cover up and how it had cost Hawke dearly, yet I still defended him. I saw the Resolutionists and I saw the blood mages and I sighed. And then Anders piled on, but I agreed with his actions.

Asunder and Inquisition sees a complete destruction of Libertarian justification; their credibility no longer exists. Vivienne is in my face spouting propaganda and hate, Solas is responsible for a very big problem, Dorian is one in a million....

I figure that at least Tevinter is honest; everyone knows the score, everyone knows what's up, there are no misunderstandings or mysteries. They have their own Chantry, their own way of doing things and I can respect their sovereignty and unwillingness to capitulate to White Thedas.

It did feel like DAI was trying to show a more moderate view of the conflict, no matter which side you came in supporting more. Whereas DA2 was very polarizing and forced you to take a side. If you came in as pro mage in DAI and did the mage quest, you saw how far the rebels had fallen and you got a taste for how bad things could get under Corypheus. And if you were pro Templar, that quest gave a taste of how extreme and intolerant the inquisition could become if Envy took over. Both quests introduced a companion you would be set up not to like right away based on preconceptions but who ends up helping you. I thought those quests were both well done.

Not really. I still believe in more freedoms for mages, although if anything I did gain some more respect for templars given this was the first time I got to experience them with something  (finally) other than the rite of annulment or mages r bad mmmk being introduced.

Fiona and Clarel doesn't help make people like mages and their rights. But with that in mind Nevarra has aretty good example of mages rights that everybody else can copy.

I'm taking on a pro-Circle anti-Templar stance.

The Circles are needed to protect the mages more than the people.

The Templars are-aholes.

I was a FREE THE MAGES guy

Well, I feel that my views have changed throughout the series. In DAO I was alright with the Circle, but I felt that a little more autonomy was necessary. Over the course of DA2 I grew more and more pro-liberation, until Anders did what he did, which made me almost switch to the Templars purely to spite him. This time, I actually chose the Templars on my main playthrough and gained some genuine respect for them. Not really sure where I sit now more playthroughs may further help shape my opinion.

I was a little more lenient on mages than I expected to be. Still pro-Templar, still pro-Circle but after killing off Fiona and most of the destabilizing elements of magehood, I didn't mind shoving them back in Circles without cutting off their hands and making half of them tranquil. Hell, I allowed most Venatori to go off scott-free or work for me.

I used to think mages could be free and co-exist with mundanes. Now I understand that it can never happen. Also southern mages are wussies, so I don't care about them much, but I do think all the templars and the chantry should burn so.. I pick mages.

My view changed to be a little more sympathetic to Circles and Templars because what Fiona and the others did was appalling.

The only thing WORSE than being slaves of the Chantry is to become slavers themselves.

Circles need to be restored. Templars should watch over the circles, and the seekers need to be reestablished so they could watch over the templars.

Reversing tranquility should never be practiced on tranquil mages.

No, no you got it all wrong. Circles should be broken, mages should control the templars and seekers should be made tranquil. Reversing tranquility should never be practiced on tranquil seekers.

I used to prefer Mages by a little bit.

Now I think both the Mages and the Templars need to be sat down.

I wonder why...

At first I was always pro-mage, but now I am more templar minded.

In my view mages need to go to a Circle as to ensure public safety, when they prove they can control their magic they may go as they please without any restrictions.

I was always sympathetic for the Mage but the game made me sympathetic towards the Templars.

Too bad you can't save both from The Elder One.

Not really.  I see the value of both Mage freedom and Templar oversight, and I tend towards pro-Mage in my average playthroughs.

I just don't want to be associated with the pro-Mages on the BSN.

Slightly altered more than outright changed.

I still feel the mages should have a chance at governing themseves, but they are close to not deserving it. A reformed circle sounds more and more like the right idea.

I was always a pro-Mages player, and sympathetic for the Mages since DAO, but the game made me more sympathetic towards the Templars. Now, I'm pro-Circle who side with the Templars, and as much as I'm supporting reformed Circle with the Mages governing themselvesm, mages have more freedom and responsibility in the reformed circle.

I still think we need the Templar Order as an oversight, but they'll no longer stand as jailer. I'm leaning towards the idea of having Templars around as protector of innocent, some sort of police force against evil mages or mages who gone too far and break the law. Not all Templars are power abusive, cruel oppressor, and you'll get a chance to turn this order around back to the way it should be. However I believe Templars who abuse their power should face harsh punishment.
