I didn't know anything "gay" 2 years ago, until I started playing Mass Effect. I'd heard the word once or twice before and some effeminate man attached to it, but I didn't know really what it was. I wanted to thank Bioware for showing gay people not as stereotypes, but with real people with real struggles and real hearts. And people can say they are thrown in and are done for attention and are pandering, but they mean something to people like me. So thanks for looking out for everyone and not just the people that earn you the most $$. If anyone from Bioware sees this, thanks.

I'd agree with you OP. But last topic I did that in you attacked me for apparently being homophobic.

@simfamSP People seem to make assumptions after I've revealed my age (which isn't often, believe me), and don't bother to actually get to know me. I tend to counter this by saying smart people can be old or young. ( I'm not being pretentious here, it's true though.)

OP, I've known Isi for a few good months now.

He's the last person on Earth I'd call a homophobe :lol:

I had a feeling that you were a teenager. You talk like one. Oh man, I just realized that you were born when people talked about Britney Spears.

Then learn from experience.

NEVER reveal your age if you feel you're older than what you are.

Seriously, don't.

You act like they introduced you to some great restaurant  or great movie or something. This is like learning "some people like things you don't like" when you're in pre-school.

Are you shitting me? Are you that braindead and retarded that you don't even know what gay means?

Christ. Are you just inherently irritating or what?

You're crediting Bioware for educating you on the subject even though that wasn't their intention? You could have just as easily looked this up in a dictionary.

Yeah, I agree. Anyone that feels there is too much fanservice in Boware games is clearly a homophobe.

@Isichar How..butthurt of you.

L2 read what people write before you respond.

I don't like agreeing with people, and then having that person I agreed with go off on me for being something I'm not, and then continue to ignore my after responses as they continue to make more and more threads on the topic. It makes you look bad just ftr.

And yes I am butthurt because homophobia is something I'm very against, and when someone suggests that I'm homophobic for standing up for it's rights I get pissed off and defensive.

@Riven236 When did I say I couldn't have? I'm saying I'm grateful Bioware had shown gay people as truthfully as possible : real people who bleed, hurt and feel like everyone else.

@Hats I'm not getting into another argument about this, all I'm saying is acknowledging a group of people exist isn't fanservice or pandering, and presuming to know what Bioware hoped to achieve by throwing out words like that makes you look extremely arrogant.

Why are you such a little crusader? Are you gay? Don't you kids have a club in school now?

@OneWomanArmy @Inquisitor Recon Could you please stop putting words in my mouth? I'm sorry if that's the way you read it, but that isn't what I meant. When I say "some people" I mean most people I meet online, that may very well mean you, but you aren't the first and I suspect it won't be the last. And that's the second time you've put words into my mouth, I don't know what you're trying to achieve by doing so. I'm not acting anything, I'm saying I'm grateful Bioware has shown these characters true to life otherwise I might not have realised certain things about myself as soon as I did.

@Isichar Right, tell me exactly what I said and exactly what you said.

A user said putting homosexual relationships into the game was pandering. I stated that the relationships as a whole were largely pandering and questioned why he would have an issue with only the homosexual aspect.

Exact quotes: (the first being the one I was responding to, the 2nd being my response)

In all honesty, Bioware still makes better games than most developers today. The gaming industry has gone to hell. I just wish Bioware would stop bending over and pandering to the LGBT community. It feels like they just tack that **** in to keep everyone happy. Have some sense of integrity.

They pander to everyone when it comes to romances. Their games are just a step away from being considered harems. I find it a bit funny that you'd focus directly on the LGBT community in that sense.

to which you responded:

@Isichar You do realise that goes both ways, right? Developers keep gay characters out of the game to keep people like you happy? The only people complaining about gay characters are either people who think because gay characters are in a game it's pandering instead of acknowledging a group of people exist, and that somehow, Bioware have an agenda just for having these characters exist, and more often than not, these people know next to nothing about the LGBT community.

Rant over.

and my response to that:

Keep gays out to keep me happy? What?

Lol why is this directed at me? I'm happy that Bioware includes gay relationships and such. I was defending it, and I've done so in other threads about the topic too including the last one you made.

I was pointing out that the relationships in the games in general are pretty much fanservice (which well while I get bothers some people doesn't particularly bother me) and I think if they are going to go that route they may as well keep everyone happy by appealing to the LGBT community.

I swear no one on these forums even reads what I write anymore.

@Dermain

Mm not saying pandering/fanservice is necessarily a bad thing mind you, it's actually a good thing when done in moderation IMO.

I agree. The only gay characters I want in my games are ones I can bang. No bang, no want.

I feel sorry for the OP if #RideTheBull, STEEEEEEEEEVEEEE and Dorian are the only exposures he's had to LGBT characters in video games.
