I feel sorry for the OP if #RideTheBull, STEEEEEEEEEVEEEE and Dorian are the only exposures he's had to LGBT characters in video games.

Well.... there is Kaidan too....

@Sigma Tauri Call me what you like, if me expressing an opinion makes me a "crusader", then that's what I am.

You're hilarious. Crusade away, my friend! Jerusalem awaits!

I can understand why people would be fans of BioWare romances well enough, but how Kaidan got a big fanbase is one of the greater mysteries of life.

@Riven236 When did I say I couldn't have? I'm saying I'm grateful Bioware had shown gay people as truthfully as possible : real people who bleed, hurt and feel like everyone else.

*sigh*

They don't. They shove it down your throat in almost every game they make even if you're not the slightest bit interested in their creepy, and quite frankly, underdeveloped romance mini-game. It's not a deal breaker for me, but I can see there is an agenda... or at the very least an overreaction on the part of Bioware to be as progressive as possible. It comes off as pandering and incredibly fake to me. I don't think there's anything real about it, nor do I think it presents an accurate portrayal of homosexuals as you describe.

Christ. Are you just inherently irritating or what?

I honestly do not care for your feelings.

Your reactions however, provide me with amusement.

How do they shove it down your throat exactly? A character in ME3 mentions he had a husband, therefor it's being forced on you?

@Riven236 You do realise these are the companions you can decline to take with you, right? Bioware isn't forcing you to do anything, and it's comments like this that come off as paranoid and ignorant to me.

Okay...

How about we all play nice?

The amusement is over for me.

I liked him at first but lost interest quickly later on. I only liked him at first because the choices were so limited for a straight female player and an alien didn't feel so right to romance :(

@Knights Of Colour I've played all 3 Mass Effect games and DA Origins and 2. I don't see the problem with Kaidan to be honest, liked him far more than Ashley even if he was "generic" and "boring."

The only other option was Liara.

For one, yeah. Why do I need to know? Does Vega or any other character in that game bring up their wife, husband, girlfriend, or boyfriend out of the blue like that? I see right through what they're doing and it cheapens the product. The problem isn't Cortez being gay or having a husband. It's how it's how it's introduced to the player in such a brute force way that's the problem. It's not all that different in DA2 where you got Anders hitting on the player despite no advances ever being made by the player. Or the decision to make Kaiden a bisexual character even though he shows interest in women in ME1 and ME2 and shows no interest in the same sex until the third game.

It's pandering and it's crap.

@Riven236 I don't think you realise how paranoid you sound. If a character who is of a minority is an agenda to you, then you have way bigger problems than having them "shoved down your throat" in a video game. Please, tell us more about the inside of the Bioware studio, where they plan to make all their fans gay....

/end sarcasm.

Tell me about it. His emotional turmoil toward his biotic past was so tedious I'd rather scan a mineral deposit. I think I selectively blocked out Kaidan's dialogue in my memory.

True but no kid should be reading the "Quarian Booty Sweat" thread. Just terrible.

I'd argue that nobody should read that, regardless of age, but then the people immediately asked for it.

As expected of Sim.

@Riven236 I don't care if you don't think something isn't as I describe, that's how I saw it. Also, I don't remember ever HAVING to talk to Cortez. It's your choice to follow his personal story, so once again, nothing is being "forced" on you.
