I'm a level 8 Mage playing through Nightmare, and it is pissing me off. I am at level 8 now, and I am at the beginning of the Fallow Mire part just after leaving the Hinterlands.

I don't stand a chance against the enemies there, because one hit from an arrow and I'm dead. Is there a place that I can get some good experience and level up so I can progress through the game?

Thanks

I suggest leading with your warrior.  Taking control of other chacters helps tons.

I had the same issue until I took control of cassandra for the first 2 seconds and switched back to my archer.

You could always use barrier before a fight starts so you dont get killed by one arrow.

If you have your knockdowns and freezes, i would use them first.

Also, dont be afraid to run out of range.  It's nightmare, it doesn't mean you have to sit and let them hit you.

Avoid the water.  Ive died countless times thanks to the stupid leapingshot bug.

Go to storm coast first. It is a little easier.

OH and for nightmare.  Having 2 dispellers makes fade rifts super easy.

How does dispel make fade rifts easier? I'm not too familiar with how it works.

Dispel unsummons demons that are about to be summoned by the next wave fade rift.

-once you kill the first wave, the next group shows up as blue dots on mini map and green lines and portals on the ground.

-Dispell over the portals to make them not pop up at all.  (you dont have to fight them at all if you do it before the rift finishes summoning them)

Yeh, about that.  The tooltip gave me that info on my first playthrough.  Lucky i guess.

Anyway i know you will have fun with that now.

I just used Dispel on a rift that was kicking my ass, and that made it a breeze. Thank you so much for your help!

Hey no problem.  Oh if you have cassandra, her templar spell purge works too, you just have to have her pretty much be on top of it

Good to know, since I always keep her in my group :) Thanks!

The Fallow Mire has level 12 enemies, if I recall. That's also not helping your level 8 party's progress. :)

As a mage that is currently playing NM (level 22) I'd say early go in the order the areas open. Spend a little time with side quests in the hinterlands then storm coast. Then craft some better gear. I got to Skyhold at level 9. Once you get specializations it makes life much easier. Early on rush right to upgraded Static Cage. It makes life much easier. Make sure your tank has at minimum Challenge and Warcry both for aggro control and guard generation. Always lead with your tank. If there are multiple archers I'd usually run up and war cry the group of melee then challenge and archer. Everyone focus on the other archers. Ideally with some form of crowd control. Don't forgef archers cant attack what they can't see. Use rocks, corners, doorways and trees to your advantage.
