Oh and when the game is fully installed it is just under 12gb. It's not 15gb like the box says, I've heard that the installer has a problem but ive checked most .rar and they there. Unless im missing something.

I've got the exact same issue, whether it comes with importing an ME1 save file or starting a new default shepard in the game. It freezes before it even gets into the game proper, although the menus seem to load just fine. I'm not quite sure what it is.
My System Specs are:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Ram: 4 gb ddr
If anyone has any suggestions for any of us, it would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. My system specs are:
AMD Athlon 3000+ processor
2 gigs ram
Windows XP w/SP3
Geforce 210 w/ 512 MB video ram
I've tried importing a character twice, and afterwards starting with a fresh character once. All 3 times I've had the game freeze up without so much as even getting past the first loading screen. Yes, I know that my processor is (at least possibly) below minimum specifications, however the initial menus up to that point run pretty smoothly, even if my PC is defaulting to a 1024x768 resolution.
If anyone has come up with a solution to this problem, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same issues, my brother is running the game in the other room just fine and we bought them seconds from each other so it's definitely not like a bad shipment batch. When starting a new game it freezes about 3 seconds into the load, the sound loops but the initial animation goes for about 3 jerky frames then freezes. Tried leaving it for a half hour to no avail...cmon tech support no help really?

Any significant differences between the two computers DMG?
Oh, and I recommend fixing your particular problem with a lead pipe to the back of your brother's head.

There is already thread about this issue

from what I was reading around the interwebs... that something is wrong with some of the installers when switching disks. There are only two workarounds that I have found so far. One is to extract the info off disk 1 and make into an iso and run the iso rather than using the disk. and the other is to torrent the game data and install it using your legit cd key. Im currently downloading the torrent to see if i can get it to work that way.... I suppose if you have two dvd drives on your computer you could try and install by putting one disk in one drive and disk 2 in the other and see if that works... sigh... its sad that I have waited so long for this game to release and now I have the game in my hand and yet I still cant play it!!! I think Bioware owes us a little more than an apology for dropping the ball on this one!

on top of the Cerberus codes not working... I would really appreciate some free dlc or something for my troubles here... Shouldn't be this hard to get a game to work! but I have confidence that Bioware will rectify the situation and make it all better... hint hint... wink wink

Well - at least they didn't tease me by letting me set everything up to the point where I can hit "New Game" or "Import Character" then - STOP.
Yeah - at least that didn't happen.

blind: that is a topic about a cinematic problem. not the same problem.
but looking at every system spec here, i'd say thats what it is, as i have a single core and am having the exact same problem.
sigh.
