Can anyone respond to my question. What version of the game do you guys have? I have the deluxe edition from steam and it crashes, I am having my buddy test his and he has the deluxe edition from steam. If it crashes I would have to say its something to do with the Deluxe Edition unfortunately :(

I have regular retail edition. i dont think the problems would be any different right now.

It's at megauploads. go to like page 3 of this thread and someone posted a link. It didn't work for me but it might work for you

11 pages and no comments from Bioware?

Not even a: "We notice you people."

The only notice we've had is: "Locked - duplicate post/ Unlocked - no duplicate."

This is disappointing.

Is this common for a problem with a game?

This many people with the same problem and no response. Is that "Business as usual?"

This is the first time I've ever stuck with a game I couldn't play out of the box - all others I just return. Because this is Bioware, and Mass Effect - it's got some time.

Add me to the list of those that get loading screen freeze, through the hotfix available on the net do correct that. So would be easy for Bioware to make an official fix for that without going into heavy modification, just a black screen with "Loading..." in middle, that available to activate with an option named "Simple Loading screen" or something like that that activate alternate bink video loading.

The video stuttering, which is an other issue I got also, is quite something else I admit.

Btw got a AMD 64 3500+, windows XP SP3, ATI HD3850 512MB

ok, here's the deal if you "think" the patch has worked, and it is laggy, that is because the patch has not worked. The effect you are seeing is the same effect you get when you watch the cut scene before you start the game. Point is this patch dosen't actually work. Any reports you people get of this supposed "patch" working are bogus. If the game was actually working for them, you think they would come back here to tell us? Think about it. It's just false information.

Don't give up hope however, because they will fix this. If they do not fix this you can always dispute your payment with your bank. Just get "Fraps" installed on your computer to take video of the poorest game quality in gaming history(that is this game at the momment),and save it as evidence to present just in case you need to go to court to dispute this matter. You all paid for a game, and it is your right to get it, or your money back. That "as is" B.S. is exactly that, B.S. When you buy an item, it is never actually "as-is", they advertise a working copy, that is what you are supposed to get.

I'm running intel core 2 Duo processor. with 4GB Ram, and a Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT GPU vid card. There is no reason this shouldn't work. But whenever I load up the game i get to see the bBoware and EA logos and then the screen goes to black. It refuses to load forcing me to restart my computer

Amd Athlon 64 3800+ @ 2.8Ghz
3 gigs of ram
Win 7
GeForce 8800GTS

I am also having the loading screen issues that everyone is having. Hopefully we can get a hotfix for this in the next day or two. I suppose this is a good thing for me because I have tests I can study for now :P

edit: I will say that the loading screen music will continue to play, but the animation freezes and nothing happens. Also, Deluxe edition from Steam... if that makes a difference.

You have 67 customers with the same issue on this thread Bioware as of page 11.

(69 as two were added between counting and posting)

Gonna have to jump in on this one. Pretty disappointing BioWare. I'm seriously unimpressed and will remember this with future releases.

Problem had, and solved without a third-party patch.

Not sure exactly what conflux of elements fixxed it, I suspect it was setting, but here is what I did:

1. Unintalled plain ME2 under a admin account.
2. Ran it, crashed it, and rebooted.
3. Installed the DLC.
4. Ran it, crashed, and rebooted.

5. Log into a user, went to MC config and turned all the video settings off. (Which frankly is very dispointing, the Nvidia 8800GTX 512Mb isn't red hot, but should be able to glide though ME.)
6. Started the program, opened firefox in the background. Checked back to the program and saw a intro video in progress I've never seen before.

7. I'm currently playing the game.

After that? You what? I love you folks, but I've been fusing with the ... nice program ...  contemplating learning new words to epress my displeasure!! sense before dawn on a free day and it's finally working. More then that, read the "Do not disturb" sign I just hung on my door!

*hangs "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DISTURB" sign on his avatar, and closes FireFox.*

Good luck folks!

So I grabed the fix. Prerendered scenes work fine (some are missing voices tho) the game rendered ones stutter and lag badly even when given a chance to walk around and there is still lag.
NOW the odd part is that when I get to a combat part everything INCLUDING the damn rendered cutscenes work flawlessly.

Can't imagine what it must have been like to wait in line at a midnight release and then have this happen.

Glad you (nasty words) met your deadline >8

Can someone decipher what LuminousLupine just said?

I shouldn't need to have a degree in programming to work a video game.

Oh, and I think that's what - 71 customers? Charming.

I just tried the so-called movie and single core fix in an attempt to bypass the loading screen issue. It essentially means replacing a number of .bik movie files in your movies folder. Now the load screen is replaced by a green screen, but I do get the following intro movie (which is better than getting stuck at the load screen!) Sadly though, the intro movie plays, but with incredible stutter (only video, sound plays fine). I'm now typing as this movie plays slowwwwwly. Waiting to get to the gameplay to see how that goes......Intro movie when Normandy flies by (which is in-game) is now smooth, but no voices from the characters, just music and sfx. And now back to stutter. And back again to smooth playback, then stutter. Finally got to the gameplay. Stuttering badly again. Went to the options menu and it it is stuttering too. By stutter I mean that for two seconds everything is silky smooth, then the next two are a complete freeze. Repeat ad inifinitum.
This is a serious issue that makes the game unplayable. I have a 360 and went through ME1 on that platform. I was looking forward to playing on the PC and getting better graphics and better controls (I prefer keyboard and mouse to gamepads). Sadly, it looks like my decision will mean no ME2 until a real fix is out.
I hope the devs can get this fixed sooner rather than later.

Edit: I posted my specs earlier, but here they are again:
WinXP
Athlon 3700+
2gb ram
Radeon 3850 with 512mb

http://m0001.gamecop..._effect_2.shtml

Well its not exactly a fix but like others stated it takes the loading screen and blanks it. Since I have a single core I took the nointro single core "fix" but thats all it fixed.  It took me close to 90 minutes maybe some more just to get thru what is maybe the 10 minute opening movie.
Once thru that hell you can use spacebar to skip thru the rendered cutscences. On my end the talking runs smooth but the video lags. Like seeing 1 frame every 5 seconds.

The problem is spread to too many people to be a system failure of some sort. I beleive it has something too do with compatibility of hardware as a previous use posted, or maybe just a small fix in data. I hope mods look at this soon
