People still seem to be having problems?

We've fixed this already.

Courtesy of pcultimate from the Bioware forums for creating the dummy load.blk files and mtvnot from Piratebay for figuring out the ****ed up .blk files (he had to go through them all manually, great job on this one Bioware) that don't play correctly for whatever reason:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1KHDBLIL

Get those files. They are dummy 1kb .blk files posted here in these forums by pcultimate.

Now, replace THESE FOLLOWING FILES ONLY, NOT ALL OF THEM, OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO GET PAST A SPECIFIC POINT IN THE GAME (because it's special circumstances - besides, only THESE files below are broken, the rest you should be able to watch)

Go to your Movies folder in Games/Mass Effect2 or wherever the hell you put the directory, and overwrite the following .blk files:

load_f01

load_f02c

load_f02d

load_f03

load_f03b

load_f05

load_f06

load_f08

load_f08b

load_f08c

load_f08d

load_f09

load_f09b

load_f09c

load_f09d

load_f10

load_f10b

load_f10c

load_f10d

load_f12

load_f12b

load_f12c

load_f14

load_f15

load_f80_ESN

load_f80_INT

All the best.

I guess you missed the part where for 90% of us the game freezes every 5 seconds after a cinematic.

Then do the following:

Overwrite all of them.

When you get to the IFF, follow what I wrote above in reverse (overwrite all the other load.blk files with the normal ones except for the ones above), get through that part of the game.

When that's done, just simply overwrite all the .blk's files again with the dummy ones.

I see you dont understand. The game freezes, the gameplay. Not the cinematics. The game works. If you save and load, it will be fine. If you watch a training video, then you'll game will freeze, unless you load it again. Do you understand our problem now..? We already passed the loading screen problems. But thanks

That's a whole other problem I'm not aware of.

Good to know you passed the loading screen problems tho.

I'm reading a bit back, you seem to have fixed the broken movies with -nomovies.

You shouldn't do that, only the above .blk files are broken. You can watch the rest on a single core (unless you've got this other save/load problem going on, that's a whole other thing). I'd assume the above fix is way better than -nomovies because movies are a pretty big part of the whole game, and you should see as many as you can.

A bunch of loading screens though, not that big of a loss.

Same problem as others.

Just got my copy in the post. Dear oh Dear.

Windows XP/AMD Athlon 3700+/2 Gb RAM/Radeon HD 2600 XT

Guess I'll give Fallout 3 another try until the patch comes out.

Hey, uhm that was just another workaround for avoiding the freezings. Like I said we discussed many possible workarounds. What you've said its a bit old.. We know what each does, etc.

Ignore what I've written then.

Even though I don't have the problem, I do wonder why the **** the game would be freezing AFTER playing a movie and actually loading the geometry.

Transition?

Seeing as the game loads in 1-2 seconds without loading screens,I doubt it.

Its beyond our knowledge... I would've understood if the game completely froze or if the game wouldnt run at all but its runs like a charm.. Its prolly some minor coding error..bioware said they are aware and will fix but who knows when thats gonna happen.. it might take months..

I doubt Michael has a habit of saying a patch is coming,let alone a second,months in advance(sarcasm?:o)
Anyways,I like what they've done with optimizing this game, polished to the bone, developers deserve a pat on the back

Reason why I like for actual users to fix things is because Bioware is a corporation and the process for patching is a ****hole of epic proportions. They're going to release a patch when it goes through sixty six cycles of bull**** corporate structure and not a minute sooner.

Can you explain the problem in detail? From what I understand, you load into the level, and then you move around, and then after a certain amount of seconds freeze? What kind of a freeze is it? Black screen? No CPU response anymore? Background sound still playing without skipping?

Cinematics instantly puts the game into a lag/loop/freeze/whatever you may want to call it. Exactly every 5 seconds the game hangs for 4-5 seconds. If there is a load after a cinematic then there is no problem. Hence why we quick save and quick load after a cinematic. This wouldnt be a problem if there werent engine/ingame cinematics, but there are and mostly after a normal cinematic and they are long. So we gotta wait 10 to more.. minutes until we can quick save and quick load.

How do you know that bioware is aware of your problem (which is mine as well ;))and will even fix it? System requirements assume a dual core processor...

Michael Gamble assured us of a fix for both freezes and single core.

the problem is even with the bik files replaced the game gets really choppy play on some of the movies.  It'll take 10 minutes to get through a 2 minute video.  Once that is over the game is laggy as hell.  Shepard can move for 2 seconds and then the game freezes for 5-6 seconds.  At this point the game needs to be saved, shut down, rebooterd and reloaded for it to work smoothly.  So yes you're right.  The game can be played using all the work around but considering we paid for this damn thing it'd be nice to get it to work without losing so much hair over it.

The effect is the same with all movies: They do play, but immediately after that the actual 3D scenes become unplayable. Basically, you get one or two seconds of normal gameplay, then the picture freezes for maybe 5 seconds. Repeats endlessly. As the reloading "fixes" it, there doesn't seem to be a big problem with the code, I'd say. Normally it should be possible to provide a hotfix quite quickly, but of course they'd need to test it doesn't break anything else etc. Would certainly be nice to hear the official status on this, though.

I still wonder why they never tested the game on single core CPUs. The rest works really well, and lower system requirements on the box would never hurt the sales, certainly on the contrary.

You dont need to shutdown the game.. you can just load the save..

It comes down to a personal call, enjoy a cinematic while waiting 30 minutes,or just swimming through them and enjoying the game knowing you will re-start playing again with a patch.

Why cant you play? Whats your problem?
I couldnt wait for the fix, so i bite the bullet and went in the stutter. And i am sure as hell gonna finish it a few more times, at least untill all my crew makes it..got to keep saves for ME3.

I have problems with EAAccessInstaller and wac.dll. During installation i get NSIS error and after that when i click on Play i get awc.dll error. I haven't yet been able to even see a glimpse of the game let alone play it for a while!

Well this thread is about a different kind of problem. I've seen your problem around here. Google is helpful aswell. http://www.google.ro...Search&aq=f&oq=
