Intel Pentium 4 2.8 ghz, single processor
1.24 gigs of memory
NVidia 7600GS w/256 meg RAM
Windows XP, Service Pack 3

Plays Dragon Age and the first ME fine, even on medium settings. (High settings lag a bit)

Same problem everyone else is having, freezing on first loading screen after trying to start a new game, imported character or default.

my rig plays everything without question, I can assure you people that the issue witht he freezing loading screen is a BIOWARE problem. We as the consumers just need to keep the presure on them to get this fixed witht he utmost expediency. Hang in there all, and continue to complain, complain complain, and complain. That is the best we can do.

@jldnis: And that ME1 had the exact same AMD processor issue, which is why I did NOT pre-order ME2. I'm an AMD guy; have been since the mid 90s. This is my current build:

AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W (AM2+ MoBo, in case someone was wondering why not the 550 Callisto)

Windows 7 64 w/6GB DDR2 800 RAM

Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 2GB 256-bit GDDR5

I have a feeling that, had I already picked up ME2, I'd have the same problems, even with this rig. All thanks to the Microsoft/Intel "conspiracy of collusion" the past few decades.

I can't believe a ctitical game breaking bug hasn't been found when they were testing the game. This is ridicilous. I have the same problem aswell by the way. And also, this "single core fix" doesn't help people, it gets you past the loading screens, yes, but whenever another prerendered movie (.bik file) is played the game starts freezing, so this fix isn't really helping much.

Bioware, at least post and say that you will look into it, i know PC users are the second rate customer for you guys (or at least EA) but still.

Thank you. Mr. Moar, could you please see that this thread gets some attention? If the reason its been ignored is because you all thought it was a dup, that's fine, understood, **** happens. But please make it up to us by taking a serious look at it now. Thanks for your attention.

Thank you Don, much appreciated.

For the record my girlfriends PC is:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+

2gb DDR RAM

ATI Radeon x1900xt

Vista 32bit

Below minimum specs yes, but I don't think that's necessarily the issue here.

Well - that's not hopeful.

They likely didn't even realize we had a specific problem.

Alright so I will throw in my two cents. First my rig:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 1.81 GHz

RAM: 3.00 GB

System type: 32-bit Operating System

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

Driver Version: 8.15.11.9038 (tried updating but there is no new drivers supposedly.)

Monitor: Acer 21.5" H213H Full HD Monitor

Native Resolution: 1920x1080

Native Refresh Rate: 60Hz

Every video setting turned off in game, all the items in the NVIDIA Control Panel turned off.

Now, I launch the game, press any key to continue, select new game, select gender, go to loading screen and it hangs. I then launched the game, went to the kitchen to grab a beer, came back and finished watching the trailer, press any key to continue, selected new game, selected female, passed the loading screen, watched the intro movie with no problems, played the in game with no problems, (well few hicups here and there but duh my computer is a POS lol), watched another video thingy, watched the Lazarus Project video, edited my character, confirmed, skeleton loading screen, AppHang error. So yes POS system can run this game with no graphical errors besides slight hicups but still crashing on the very next loading screen.

And people wonder why I started a club called "Remove loading screens from our games or if you have to have them in there make them black screens with no motions because they eff up our games!"

Well that is some tidbits on my problem, just the same as all of yours. Lets hope bioware gets this fixed ASAP. I preordered the DIgital Deluxe version off of steam the day it was available because I loved Mass Effect and have been so excited for Mass Effect 2.... Now I am just irritated at this game and want to kick my computer.

PS. Just to keep this thread updated I will post this here :D

From what I can tell several of the current issues are the following:

1. Cerberus Network log in error - This is EA server side and requires them to fix it. From what I can tell the "Please Wait..." is from a FreezeFail when the server is to verify that the Code has or has not been registered. For SOME reason no one programed a "Cancel" Button or even an AutoFail timer.

2. Processor timer error - To fix will require a patch or placing "/ptimer" in the correct location in the code (I'm trying to find out where). It's NOT a single core processor compatibility problem; it's a processor compatibility problem. At any rate this is what's causing the video lag after letting the opening cut scene run

3. Audio FailBug for Video cinematic - Interestingly enough Realtek HD Audio driver (HATE you!) is resetting during the cinematic and causing complete failure (Blue screens). I'm not surprised with this. I would be willing to be that all of the testers weren't using that Piece of ****. At any rate This will ALSO have to be fixed by EA but I'm going to try and find a work around.

I'm working on finding non 3-rd party patch work arounds but it's gonna take me time.

In the mean time Kirby will entertain you...

hopefully they will have a patch or some sort of fix for us by the time I finish redownlaoding and reinstalling the game. Yeah right, at least they know now and are probably on their way to a fix, it is a shame I called off work today to play this supposedly incredible game. I wish now there was some way to reouperate my losses here, but I'm sure that is the farthest thing from their minds at the moment.

Whats going to hurt me is the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta starting on the 28th and the Global Agenda early start starts on the 28th. I was hoping to get pretty far into ME2 before those as I had all the rest of today and all day tomorrow available to play this game :(

In the meantime as I wait, I will listen to the soundtrack and read the comic, and look at the artwork :D
