hmmm the audio one is interesting...perhaps this is the issue for those in thise thread. I can say /ptimer might not be fore everyone as some with the same processor are able to run it.

Funny thing is (in my case at least) that I stopped in the middle of playing Dragon Age right before the whole Return to Ostagar fiasco, since I didn't want to completely finish the game before seeing the DLC content. So I decided to go ahead and entirely play through ME1 before the release of the sequel. Now the sequel is out, but I can't play it, and I'm still reluctant at the very least to continue DA:O because they still haven't released the DLC.

Go figure.

I ran Wireshark to see what was up with the modem lights. My computer
is talking to 159.153.109.173, which is an Electronic Arts IP address.
This issue is all down to EA's servers not handling the load. Cerebus
is not up to the task, it seems.

EA/Bioware: Please
don't do this to your most loyal fans. We love your games, and this
"social network" nonsense is just that. Stop doing it.

Guys this thread is for the game crashing when trying to start the game not connecting to EA, or any Audio problems, or anything. It is related to the AppHang error that requires you to minimize and end process from task manager. Please try and keep it on topic. If you have not experienced the loading screen crash (NOT THE PLEASE WAIT CRASH) then this is not the thread for you. :D

cmon guys this thread is for "freezing at first loading screen", not Cerberus hookup, not sound sync, did you all read the Headline? Get lost int he forum? We NEED your input on the freezing at loading screen info, that is the problem people are having here, most of us dont have cerberus problems, I know mine runs fine. I have no problems, I got two screens and everything just freezes when we go to start a new game. I think your problem occurs even before our problem occurs. And plus isn't there a thread for the cerberus problem?

that issue will not cause you to be unable to start a game. It just makes it impossible to connect to cereberus network. Again the issue described in this thread is much different.

(you can still play without being connected I am)

so you are still missing some of the product that u purchased?

Look, I purchase a product form this developer and I EXPECT to get ALL of it. I should not have to get some patch that is actually inadequate. Instead of getting all of video, you get "green screen"?

No thanks.....

A few others have noted that they're still having problems despite using the fix located at that site. I'm still not convinced that you wouldn't be missing out on important plot points even if you did use it, and it's simply not worth the amount of money I paid to purchase the game in the first place.

Unless a fix comes from Bioware, I'll pass.

That is theng, you see....... You can see my gaming rig i posted earlier on in this thread.  I am running an intelcore 2 duo quad processor, this issue has nothing to do with AMD OR single core processors.

From what I can tell several of the current issues are the following:
1. Cerberus Network log in error - This is EA server side and requires them to fix it. From what I can tell the "Please Wait..." is from a FreezeFail when the server is to verify that the Code has or has not been registered. For SOME reason no one programed a "Cancel" Button or even an AutoFail timer.
2. Processor timer error - To fix will require a patch or placing "/ptimer" in the correct location in the code (I'm trying to find out where). It's NOT a single core processor compatibility problem; it's a processor compatibility problem. At any rate this is what's causing the video lag after letting the opening cut scene run

3. Audio FailBug for Video cinematic - Interestingly enough Realtek HD Audio driver (HATE you!) is resetting during the cinematic and causing complete failure (Blue screens). I'm not surprised with this. I would be willing to be that all of the testers weren't using that Piece of ****. At any rate This will ALSO have to be fixed by EA but I'm going to try and find a work around.

I'm working on finding non 3-rd party patch work arounds but it's gonna take me time.
In the mean time Kirby will entertain you...

(>'-')> Kirby says: The invisible hand of the gaming industry is just jacking you off.

thats what i wanted to hear, it can be fixed and its not a problem with my pc ( i wont have to get a new processor). if your correct. we really need some attention besides trying to lock the thread bioware!

I am having this issue as well. I select start new game, import my ME1 char (or select new male / female char) and the initial load screen comes up with the orange outline of the mass gate... it gets bigger and BAM frozen. For the rest of time. Tried different video settings / windowed etc; no dice.

Ugh. Seriously? I mean... seriously? Has bioware even confirmed that this is an issue? Computer specs below:

Intel® Core™2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz

Family 6, Model 15, Stepping 6

(1 core, clock speed: 2394 MHz)

2.93 GB ram.

I'm glad you guys are okay with the fix - but I agree with Metalcalf - I need the entire product to be functioning.

I don't want anything stuttering or freezing and there is every indication that this is a problem on Bioware's end.

As a note:

We've had Single, Dual, and Quad Core people having this problem.

We've had Low End and High End machines having this problem.

We've had AMD and Intel processors with this problem.

It really does seem like there is no fix on the consumer end. I think we would all really appreciate a comment from Bioware on the topic other than "This is actually a topic - sorry for mistaking it for duplicate."

Does appear that the fix works on my GF's PC.

Is this issue perhaps somehow related to how the game engine processes .bik files? She can play the .bik files outside of game just fine.

Hmm my post didn't show up; wierd.

I'm having the same issue.  I select import character (or even new male / female char; doesn't seem to matter)... and the initial loading screen comes up where the orange mass gate is displayed.  It seems to move forward a little bit and BAM; frozen... for eternity it seems.

Played around with a lot of options for video settings etc; nothing seems to work.

Has bioware even confirmed this is an issue?  I mean; paying $50+ I expect it to at least WORK.  C'mon now bioware...

Comp info:

Intel® Core™2 CPU          6600  @ 2.40GHz
Type: Family 6, Model 15, Stepping 6
1 core, 2394 MHz
2.93GB ram.

I feel bad for the people who stood in line for the midnight launches and had to go through... this.

Too many people are just assuming that this is a single core processor problem........

It is not. If it was solely just a single core problem, then I would not be having any isues, as I am using an Intel Core 2 Duo Quad

Here is my gaming rig again:

Manufacturer: ME

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz

Memory: Corsair DDR2, 2814MB RAM

Hard Drive: 150 GB

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280

Monitor: SyncMaster 2253BW/2253LW,SyncMaster Magic CX2253BW/CX2253LW(Digital)

Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio output

Speakers/Headphones: Logitech X-540

Keyboard: Logitech G-11

Mouse: Microsoft Sidewinder

Mouse Surface: Empty Corsair TX750W Power Supply Box (i'm cheap)

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)

Motherboard: NVIDIA NForce 780i SLI FTW

Computer Case: Cooler Master COSMOS 1000

The problem we are having here is:

At the game start screen, we select "new game", then we select either male, female, or import ME1 character, after that we go to the loading screen, at this point the loading screen plays like 3 frames(with sound) and it freezes with sound still playing, the only way to get out of it is to open the widows manager with ctr+alt+del and end program(for me at least).

If it were merely just a single core issue i obviously would not be having a problem.

My cerberus works just fine.

Also when the BioWare logo and the EA games logo pops up the sound keeps looping.
