is talking to 159.153.109.173, which is an Electronic Arts IP address.
This issue is all down to EA's servers not handling the load. Cerebus
is not up to the task, it seems.
EA/Bioware: Please
don't do this to your most loyal fans. We love your games, and this
"social network" nonsense is just that. Stop doing it.

Look, I purchase a product form this developer and I EXPECT to get ALL of it. I should not have to get some patch that is actually inadequate. Instead of getting all of video, you get "green screen"?
No thanks.....

Unless a fix comes from Bioware, I'll pass.

From what I can tell several of the current issues are the following:
1. Cerberus Network log in error - This is EA server side and requires them to fix it. From what I can tell the "Please Wait..." is from a FreezeFail when the server is to verify that the Code has or has not been registered. For SOME reason no one programed a "Cancel" Button or even an AutoFail timer.
2. Processor timer error - To fix will require a patch or placing "/ptimer" in the correct location in the code (I'm trying to find out where). It's NOT a single core processor compatibility problem; it's a processor compatibility problem. At any rate this is what's causing the video lag after letting the opening cut scene run
3. Audio FailBug for Video cinematic - Interestingly enough Realtek HD Audio driver (HATE you!) is resetting during the cinematic and causing complete failure (Blue screens). I'm not surprised with this. I would be willing to be that all of the testers weren't using that Piece of ****. At any rate This will ALSO have to be fixed by EA but I'm going to try and find a work around.
I'm working on finding non 3-rd party patch work arounds but it's gonna take me time.
In the mean time Kirby will entertain you...
(>'-')> Kirby says: The invisible hand of the gaming industry is just jacking you off.
thats what i wanted to hear, it can be fixed and its not a problem with my pc ( i wont have to get a new processor). if your correct. we really need some attention besides trying to lock the thread bioware!

Ugh. Seriously? I mean... seriously? Has bioware even confirmed that this is an issue? Computer specs below:
Intel® Core2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
Family 6, Model 15, Stepping 6
(1 core, clock speed: 2394 MHz)
2.93 GB ram.

I don't want anything stuttering or freezing and there is every indication that this is a problem on Bioware's end.
As a note:
We've had Single, Dual, and Quad Core people having this problem.
We've had Low End and High End machines having this problem.
We've had AMD and Intel processors with this problem.
It really does seem like there is no fix on the consumer end. I think we would all really appreciate a comment from Bioware on the topic other than "This is actually a topic - sorry for mistaking it for duplicate."

Is this issue perhaps somehow related to how the game engine processes .bik files? She can play the .bik files outside of game just fine.

I'm having the same issue. I select import character (or even new male / female char; doesn't seem to matter)... and the initial loading screen comes up where the orange mass gate is displayed. It seems to move forward a little bit and BAM; frozen... for eternity it seems.
Played around with a lot of options for video settings etc; nothing seems to work.
Has bioware even confirmed this is an issue? I mean; paying $50+ I expect it to at least WORK. C'mon now bioware...
Comp info:
Intel® Core2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
Type: Family 6, Model 15, Stepping 6
1 core, 2394 MHz
2.93GB ram.
I feel bad for the people who stood in line for the midnight launches and had to go through... this.

It is not. If it was solely just a single core problem, then I would not be having any isues, as I am using an Intel Core 2 Duo Quad
Here is my gaming rig again:
Manufacturer: ME
Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
Memory: Corsair DDR2, 2814MB RAM
Hard Drive: 150 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280
Monitor: SyncMaster 2253BW/2253LW,SyncMaster Magic CX2253BW/CX2253LW(Digital)
Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio output
Speakers/Headphones: Logitech X-540
Keyboard: Logitech G-11
Mouse: Microsoft Sidewinder
Mouse Surface: Empty Corsair TX750W Power Supply Box (i'm cheap)
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)
Motherboard: NVIDIA NForce 780i SLI FTW
Computer Case: Cooler Master COSMOS 1000
The problem we are having here is:
At the game start screen, we select "new game", then we select either male, female, or import ME1 character, after that we go to the loading screen, at this point the loading screen plays like 3 frames(with sound) and it freezes with sound still playing, the only way to get out of it is to open the widows manager with ctr+alt+del and end program(for me at least).
If it were merely just a single core issue i obviously would not be having a problem.
My cerberus works just fine.
Also when the BioWare logo and the EA games logo pops up the sound keeps looping.
