For the record, I updated to the latest drivers available for my video card (NVidia 7600 GS), didn't help at all.

At least the Cerberus bug seems to be fixed now, so hopefully they can devote some resources to this problem.

OK i have noted that everyone that is having troubles is using
Win XP SP3 ! ?

Even if the loading screen thing is fixed (with the stupid fix thats over the net) then the game lags at 1 fps or... more precisely 0.4ps !
Yep thats 1 frame every 3 seconds.

Now there are 2 problems !

1) with loading screens !
This is happening to everyone with SINGLE CORE

2) if you pass this (or if you have a dual or above cores)
you will probably get EXTREME low FPS because .... no one knows --> this is the thing beware has to find out.

But as i see everyone that is complaining is using XP SP3...
Its not SINGLE or DUAL core related.
And its not ATI or NVIDIA
and its not INTEL or AMD
all of the above have the problem !

My game runs the Bioware and EA logos fine. Trying to import or create a new charecter causes a freeze. The animated load screen halts a fraction into animation. Game music continues to play seemingly without issue.
ctrl+alt+del shows Masseffect2.exe using 40-67 CPU prior to load/freeze when freeze hits. CPU usage drops immediatly to zero.

I run in windowed mode at 1024 x 768 resolution. 4:3 Aspect. Bloom, Film Grain, Blur, Dynamic Shadows, LE Shadows are all set to OFF in Configuration. Cinematic light 3.  Spherical Harmonic Lighting and Anisotropic Filtering set to Default.

Audio set to Default.
Config reads game versions as:
Masseffect2.exe v1.00
MassEffect2Launcher.exe v1.01
Masseffect2Config.exe v1.03
Uninstall Mass Effect 2.exe v 1.03.

Tried Uninstall and reinstall no discernable effect. Tried reinstalling on-top of same install. Tried unzipping and copying over movie files from disc 1 and disc 2. Tried removing read-only tag from game and sub-game directories and files. Tried removing read-only from My Documents\\Bioware.

Made 52'ish copies of BWLogo.bik in a seperate folder. renamed to files load_f1 through ME1_charimport_loadloop.bik copied original files to a zip as a backup. copied dummy logos to movie directory. No benefit aside from 1/2 second audio blip likely form the video loop. (similar to using the green block swap out found posted elswhere).

Attempts made before and after installing bonus DLC  BloodDragon, Inferno,Collectors.

First attempts while Cerberus Network code was unredeemable in-game. Later attempts recently after that issue seems to resolved. Load Freeze still happens with Cerberus Network. (doubt they'd be related anyway but who knows.)

I tend to keep AVG and Avast running all the time. Tried shutting off avast on-access scanner for play. AVG doesn't seem to shut off as easy so i'll try shutting it off in tasks later. Will also try while not connected to the internet. (Don't really wanna shut off my anti-virus but i'll try it offline). Think that's everything. Sorry for long post.

Look, I purchase a product form this developer and I EXPECT to get ALL of it. I should not have to get some patch that is actually inadequate. Instead of getting all of video, you get "green screen"?
No thanks.....

you get to see all of the video - it's just the loading screens that are greened out

the videos just are stuttery and slow - but the gameplay is flawless

You get to see all of the video - it is just very laggy.  Only the loading screens are greened out.  Combat areas are pretty flawless so far.

Are you willing to wait days - or even weeks for bioware to issue an official fix?  It really is the best solution for the time being, unfortunately

Ive installed mass effect 2 as normal, but when I try to start any new game, I get to the loading screen and.... thats it. It loads (the screen moves just a titch) and its stuck. Ive tried using an import character and fresh default characters, but I can never get pass the loading screen, heres are my system specs.

Proc- Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz

Clock-3001 MHz

Mem-2.00 GB

3D Card-NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT~512 MB

OS~Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Ultimate

DirectX 10.0 (Mar2009) or later

Please help, this is incredibly annoying. I cant believe how bad the tech support is on this issue. I wonder why this is a problem for me also, since I have a duel core.

it is a retail version, Ive already installed twice (to current install), in other words Ive reinstalled only once (which didn't help at all).

Everyone needs to post their system information like the sticky says. I don't think Bioware is going to respond until that starts happening.
