It already won Game of the Year... it's being largely touted as the best game Bioware has produced in years.  I'd say the general consensus is that is a success.

Another PC player here and I loved it. I did play with a controller though. 

 

At least this time they gave us that option.

PC player. Control scheme didn't bother me as much but the game was vapid over all for me. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for it again, the title has moved to a 20-30 dollar throw away for me, like KoA or Lords of the Fallen.

Short campaign, bland MMO sidequests and an underwhelming ending/villain. Combat is satisfying and all the classes feel fun. 

 

I'd give it a solid 8/10.

I was actually surprised by the lack of interest in other places.  I haven't seen the game mentioned once in any of the other game communities I'm a part of, whereas I usually see some rumblings when these types of games come out.

The new looting with patch 2 + hotfix was welcome though, I admit. the radar was a good call.

I can't find much on the actual number of sales yet, but it won GOTY at the gaming awards thing. Not that I consider those the world's most reliable award's show, but I think people vote on it, not just critics picking. It was a critical success, with good reviews. So... I imagine it's a success. Though being different from earlier iterations of the series, it is going to draw loud ire (it did even before it was released) from a segment of BioWare's fans. I wouldn't take the negativity here of how it is viewed in the world at-large. Sales numbers, however, will determine what the true "consensus" is. The critical reviews were good enough that it won't be considered sub-par there, but we have to see how well it sold. Too early to tell on that.

Bioware played it too safe. They were scared of more backlash.

What we got,crummy anti-climatic ending, storyline was tame, majority of side-quests were boring and fetchy, horrible tac cam for PC players, horrible optimization for PC players, no tac settings like in origin and even in DA2, mild companions compared to the other games - only characters worth noticing is Varric, Cass and Solas, no healing spells, Skyhold underdeveloped, combat not tactical compared to DAO or even DA2 (lol), no walk toggle for Keyboard and mouse setup, and pointless multiplayer, I'm willing to bet it'll be dead - I tried it and it's no where near as fun as the multiplayer in ME3.

Get your **** together Bioware. Thanks.

PC player here, I HATE the controls and UI and lack of tactics system and bad tac cam, as well as other issues I have (poor introduction, main villian not fleshed out enough). I'm happy though that the PC controls are getting addressed soon.

 

But, there is a TON of good to outweigh the bad, I fking love this game - 8/10 from me

That too.  I don't know if pressing F previously looted or not but it fixed some issues I had been having with looting.  And the 'search lights up the minimap' feature made things hella easier to find.

It's a good/great game that falls short of being outstanding due to some flaws (empty word, short-ish story, many fetch quests). If you like the genre at all, though, it's worth a buy.

I think its amazing (ps4 gamer) the second patch sorted all the issues i had. well done bioware i say great game

Not exactly high praise when you look at their last 5 years of releases.
