Bioware played it too safe. They were scared of more backlash.

What we got, crummy anti-climatic ending, storyline was tame, majority of side-quests were boring and fetchy, horrible tac cam for PC players, horrible optimization for PC players, no tac settings like in origin and even in DA2, mild companions compared to the other games - only characters worth noticing is Varric, Cass and Solas, no healing spells, Skyhold underdeveloped, combat not tactical compared to DAO or even DA2 (lol), no walk toggle for Keyboard and mouse setup, and pointless multiplayer, I'm willing to bet it'll be dead - I tried it and it's no where near as fun as the multiplayer in ME3.

Get your **** together Bioware. Thanks.

Really? After about 21 seconds of keybinding reassignment I'm running superb tac cam in 4K on ultra high graphics. I'm not being snarky genuinely curious why u say that as I play on PC as well.

Best Bioware game since ME2, and overall one of their best. Glad to see them pull it off.

That too.  I don't know if pressing F previously looted or not but it fixed some issues I had been having with looting.  And the 'search lights up the minimap' feature made things hella easier to find.

Naw they patched that in. Also nice. I didn't mind the search function, though I admit it was kind of a pain in certain areas like deserts, foggy caves, etc.

I loved the game and am still playing it from time to time, and am a pc gamer. The PC controls are a little off and take some adjustment, but not that hard to handle at times...well don't generally play melee chars so it was less of an issue for me.

Not exactly high praise when you look at their last 5 years of releases.

implying that ME2-3 and DA 2 sucked sure DA 2 wasn't as good as Origins but its still a good game and ME 2 +3 (minus the ending) are great games too
you are probably one of the Origins fanboys right? "origins (and whatever came before) is perfect everything after that sucks"

wondering what you are doing here if the last 4 games of the company didn't satisfy you

I would put it in the top ten of Bioware games, but it's definitely below KotOR, DA:O, ME1, ME2. Above ME3 and DA2 but close to both of them. Way above Sonic Chronicles ;)

This game was designed to ruin Christmas.  It was released in late November knowing that the masses would be sucked into it for countless hours and even days at a time, amounting to all of the time they normally spend Christmas shopping.  There will be no gifts for Timmy this year because I was too busy micromanaging my Keep histories to go Lego shopping.  What does BioWare have against Legos???

Ahem.

There's a good review on youtube by a little known internet personality who goes by the name of Angry Joe.  He more or less nails it. This is a very good game.  It has the sort of flaws that come with a videogame of this scale, but its strength of narrative outshines everything.  The characters especially feel real and that's a BioWare patented storytelling technique.

Also I hear there's multiplayer on this thing.

It's interesting to me when people say, "it's definitely worse than Origins" or something to that effect. Really? I mean, opinions, sure. But It's such an unyielding statement, I don't know. Is it the nostalgia? The first in the series is always sentimental.. but in terms of graphics, gameplay, questing, environments, weapons choices, et al., it seems like DAI wins.

Below ME1? See, I think ME1 is by far the weakest Mass Effect game, even with ME3's slightly poor (counting extended cut) ending. The story in ME1 is compelling but everything else is awful and the story isn't head-and-shoulders above any other BioWare game (it's good, great first entry, but the story has it's strengths and weaknesses).

The only reason I've ever replayed ME1 is because of how much I enjoy ME2/3 and because there is no Keep equivalent for Mass Effect (I wish).

But these are all opinions. To me, DA:I is definitely better than Origins (using the phrase from hellbiter's post). I don't know if one can prove that or not objectively, but it's how I feel. I would say DA:O is overall better than DA2, though DA2 had a better story. Really, I don't write with a ton of  "I think"s because it feels redundant to me, but this is obviously opinion. What else could it be?

Respectfully, I think you're delusional. DAI is average at best, objectively speaking of course.

How would one go about objectively measuring such things?

Anyways I rather like what I have seen of the game so far.  And heard from personal friends and others.  This game seems like actually a near perfect melding of two very different types of games.  And I can only hope BioWare can only expand on it and give us a more 'longer story' with the semi open world.

I never really get anything out of an AngryJoe review.  He seems to be veering more towards a Zero Punctuation "comedy/spectacle >>>>>>>> information" theme.

Yeah.  Now I have not experienced all of the story, in context yet, in any medium...but from what I do know if it there really could have used a good 3-4 more main quests, and even dealing with some of the things they handled in side quests.  Like Corphy's back story and development, the development of Skyhold, the Inquisition, and the Inquisitor's growing power...it does seem a bit odd that the Inquisitor went from basically owning the mark, to using it, to using it to do what they did to Corphy at the end without explanation or some training montage set to Rocky music...ahem.  Sure maybe some fo these issues are addressed, but I do not think so.

Better than DA2, does things both better and worse than DA:O. It's BioWare in a sandbox, and it's got me thoroughly hooked. In a disappointing year overall, it stands out.

I must say though the main draw for BioWare games, the cast of characters, they knocked it out of the park on this one.  Probably the best cast of characters BioWare has ever assembled.  And even the ones I do not particularily like I do not feel its because they are poorly written or inconsistent, but just...the opposite really.  And even the bad characters have their few redeeming moments.

According to most professional critics its a really good game, It won Game Of The Year and Best RPG of the Year.

According to most of my friends and me who bought the game its pretty good, have its flaws but best work from Bioware since Mass Effect 2.
Its not on the level of DAO but very close, Sidequests are a big let down but the exploration is very good. Main story is great but on the shorter side.
Final battle is good, Ending is good, not fantastic or great. Very positive for me, makes me very hopeful for DLCs and future Dragon Age.
If you are one of those people who really hates Bioware for mass effect 3, this game almost makes up for it. Atleast Dragon Age team have my trust after DA2 which was good game, when I replayed it before Inquisition.

According to the Forum, basically Half hates it and Half likes it, if I am to generalize.

PC player here, Yes Tactical cam is a great hassle but I think its a good enough PC port. I hope the patches will make it better though.

One really can't compare DAO to DAI on aspects such as graphics, game play, questing, environments and weapon choices when DAO is a 5 year old game and in all seriousness should be better than DAI in all catergories. And I get what you are saying that  yeah its leagues above DAO in those categories , but at the end of the day I can honestly say it didn't make me become emotionally attached to the protagonist . DAI reminds me to much of DA2 where the supporting cast over shadowed the character I was supposed to play.  While the story is as good as  DA2 it didn't pull me in and make me hang on like DAO did.

from me 6/10 it would be a 7/10 if not for the dreadful PC port.

It feels like a singleplayer mmo with tedious grinding and fetch quest as far as the eye can see.

Dragon Age Origins nailed it for me but it's obvious that they will never go back to that and with this trend of changing each game so drastically in every department i wouldnt be suprised if Dragon Age 4 ends up being a first person shooter -.-

Dragon Age Inquisition was my most anticipated game in years but it ended up being a colossal dissapointment and im sad to say that im giving up on the DA franchise.

Could've done with the Fed Ex Quests toned down just a Smidgeon though

Same here on both counts.

Completely Agreed. Might be the best cast ever assembled in Dragon Age, Having Morrigan and Leliana helps a lot, most companions are really fleshed out, and all of them are different in their own ways, I really liked the companions this time most of them also gives us a lot of information like Dorian, or Iron Bull. Sera is awesome in her way, Cole really makes me feel for him, Cassandra is understandable, I know a lot of people hate Vivienne for being high and mighty but I find it amusing, Blackwall well its complicated, Solas is also great and obviously much much more. Varric is still awesome but not my best friend like DA2, I assume he is very loyal to Hawke. and lets not forget the Advisors, Leliana is Leliana, Josephine is adorable and Cullen is good.
