Its marvelous........but with glaring flaws. 7/10.  I would have given it a 8.5/10 if it weren't for that disastrously unfinished / untested state of the game when they released it, followed by the awful customer service regarding the patches and bug fixes / lack thereof.

Also what really annoys me are those colorful effects of abilities that makes it extremely hard to see what actually happens during combat, plus the overly difficult to navigate UI.  Those things have a really bad impact on the gameplay.

Love the game - wish the ending was stronger, but that's about it. Seemed mostly to lack the big "will your companions stick with you or abandon based on your choices?" moment that I've gotten used to in all Bioware games - I know its something they do all the time, but it works, so they should keep doing it.

As far as story and dialogue options go, it wasn't very memorable. Everything else though was pretty damn good.

Completely Agreed. Might be the best cast ever assembled in Dragon Age, Having Morrigan and Leliana helps a lot, most companions are really fleshed out, and all of them are different in their own ways, I really liked the companions this time most of them also gives us a lot of information like Dorian, or Iron Bull. Sera is awesome in her way, Cole really makes me feel for him, Cassandra is understandable, I know a lot of people hate Vivienne for being high and mighty but I find it amusing, Blackwall well its complicated, Solas is also great and obviously much much more. Varric is still awesome but not my best friend like DA2, I assume he is very loyal to Hawke. and lets not forget the Advisors, Leliana is Leliana, Josephine is adorable and Cullen is good.

Morrigan...Morrigan and I have a complicated relationship.  I want to like her I mean she is voiced by Claudia Black and she seems like a total bad arse...but she just annoys me at times...and I actually find some of her writing a bit inconistant and...well annoying.  She is alright in her own way and really I do appreciate what they tried to do with her but she is not really high up there either.

Well I...I am not a fan of Viv, at all.  She seems like a bigot to me, against her own kind, when she should know better, and is ust way too much of a political schemer.  BUT on the flip side of the equation she is also a really well realized character.

First two games I was really uncertain of Cullen.  I tend to get really leary of characters who just attract large fan followings who then glomp onto them and prattle constantly about how awesome they are...especially when I can't see it (ahem Liara) but, Cullen seems so much better in this game.  And I am now in the camp of 'Team Cullen'.  But, he is still a little too pro Templar for my taste.

As for Dorian and Bull, love their perspectives, even when it grates on me.

One really can't compare DAO to DAI on aspects such as graphics, game play, questing, environments and weapon choices when DAO is a 5 year old game and in all seriousness should be better than DAI in all catergories. And I get what you are saying that  yeah its leagues above DAO in those categories , but at the end of the day I can honestly say it didn't make me become emotionally attached to the protagonist . DAI reminds me to much of DA2 where the supporting cast over shadowed the character I was supposed to play.  While the story is as good as  DA2 it didn't pull me in and make me hang on like DAO did.

You know I can concede to this point. I do feel as though a deeper link was established to the warden in DA: O than the Inquisitor in DA:I. I wonder why... maybe lack of a backstory. He kind of just appears out of the fade--BOOM. With the warden, you had to work your way through your starting origin.. I liked that.

Still not sure if it trumps DA:I as a whole, but I suppose this purely comes down to personal game pref.

It's interesting to me when people say, "it's definitely worse than Origins" or something to that effect. Really? I mean, opinions, sure. But It's such an unyielding statement, I don't know. Is it the nostalgia? The first in the series is always sentimental.. but in terms of graphics, gameplay, questing, environments, weapons choices, et al., it seems like DAI wins.

No. I am replaying through Origin right now (with couple of mod though) and Origin for me is definitely a superior game. Well .. Origin is my favorite game of all time. Inquisition is good sure. But it was definitely more on the arcade side of the spectrum while Origin was closer to BioWare root style of CRPG.

The general consensus seems to be that the characters and main plot are great (if a little short) and the world is stunning, but people don't like the sheer amount of MMO style fetch quests and the experience can feel a little shallow.

you can only be joking a game with 0 choices is better than DAI? lets not forget the combat and story. I love southpark and I love Obsidian but lets not kid ourselves.
Stick of Truth is a good game if you like Southpark and than it is a good southpark game, and barely a rpg game.

Best mods for Origins are to make Leliana look like she does in the Sacred Ashes trailer, and to make Morrigan look like her voice actress.

Well I can totally see why Morrigan would annoy people, I think I only let it slight because she is the mother of my Warden's Child ( Kieran) , which basically didn't let me be neutral even though I was playing as the Inquisitor. Also Bioware really did an awesome job of that Warden and Morrigan romance arch, she mentioned the warden a few times, talked about the time through Eluvian, talked about how he was a good father. Made me really happy that point. In a way it was bad cause made me feel like I rather play as the Warden. I hope we get to see the waden or play as him again, Bioware can do it well if they try. He can be a silent protagonist for all I care.

Just my 2c. I'm a PC player and I love this game (both SP and MP)! I find that the game is good enough for me to overlook the minor bugs and occasional crashes, but that's just me.

Coming from a guy who downloaded the slap morrigan mod in DA: O ( ), I've found morrigan much more tolerable this time around.

She's not a total B, she's more mysterious, and she looks hot.

I like all of that  ^^^^                      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^                       ^^^^

Inquisition is a pretty decent game for the most part, but it's a triumph of style over substance; flashy action combat, but no tactical depth, minimal customisation, few spells and abilities, wonky AI, poorly implemented controls, and tedious repetitious gameplay. DAI is winning GotY awards because the competition is so weak this year. If DAI came out last year and had to go up against GTAV, Bioshock, and The Last of Us, it wouldn't have had a chance.

I absolutely adore this game. I play on PC and just finished my second playthrough, taking a slight break before I start my 3rd.

The cast is amazing, the story setup is excellent (and I usually don't like The Chosen One storylines, but this works), and the environments are beautiful. Only complaint is the usual mass-amount of side quests that have no real grasping story to them. I havn't had a "Sir Willem, Sir willem" moment nor a Dagna moment. =/

But yeah, finished up the playthrough and just looked around the main hall during the end party scene and just had this overwhelming sense of "I don't want to go... Oh wait! I can make another game! It's ok! I'll be back!" I havn't had that feeling in a game in quite some time.

Pros:

-Engaging storyline (mostly) throughout. Branching decisions are thoughtful and appreciated.

-More customization than ever before. Could always use more, but this is a huge step in the right direction.

-Hours and hours...and hours of gameplay, activities, and huge areas to explore. I haven't spent as much time on a single playthrough than any other game with a linear plot before (which excludes games like Elders Scrolls, Fallout, WoW, etc.)

-Solid, entertaining combat. Attacks hit hard and have weight behind them. The game is a little too flashy...but it creates a certain charm (think the clunky but tactical approach to ME1 or DA:O...had its faults but most ended up liking it a lot). The sum of its parts add up nicely.

-Judgements are exciting, plentiful, and varied.

-Lots of companions and NPCs to meet. Most of the voice acting is solid.

-Epic soundtrack.

-Dragon battles are exhilarating and unique.

Cons:

-This is a buggy, BUGGY game. No game breaking bugs, but the bugs that are present are damn near close to game breaking. Some story scenes literally refuse to play out, and get awkward stagnated during key moments. Really kills the immersion and investment to the story. Other bugs include getting stuck in objects/corners, and not being able to complete/turn in certain quests. Such is the plight that many RPGs of this magnitude face.

-Some really poorly written dialogues and bad voice-overs.

-Lack of tactics. The few options we receive in the AI controlling its own behavior is abysmal, especially in comparison to previous games.

-No stat allocation is a terrible idea in RPGs of this style. Despite what crafting may achieve, it should always be there so that the player can properly mold a character's combat persona to their liking. Crafting is limiting in creating the true fighter you desire.

-No storage chest forces you to part with several unique, codex-worthy items that could be novel to have around. Boo.

The game's biggest strength: content. This game is absolutely brimming with content. Some may not appreciate all the content, and others (like myself) appreciate all of it. A fantastic game to lose yourself in.

The game's biggest weakness: Bugs and limitations. For a game that thrives by immersion, the bugs really do butcher the experience, and appear at the worst possible times. Limitations in combat, tactics, and other RPG elements are very disheartening. Makes me wonder what else they might streamline in future titles.

Neutral opinion: This game is so much more valuable to those invested in the series than to newcomers. Although a newcomer could endure the huge game if they made the effort, I can see why many would not appreciate this game for what it is. For those who love Dragon Age, RPGs, or both, this is a really great game and a good step into the right direction of RPGs from BioWare considering the backlash from DA:2, SWTOR, and ME3.

Final Verdict: 9/10.

The forum does not offer an accurate general consensus. Not even close. This place is always "toxic" when a new Bioware game is released. Inquisition is a success, no matter how much some people here argue that it failed and "BIOWARE IS DOOMED!"

Love the game, awesome story, memorable companions.... actual laugh-out-loud moments on par with Aveline's patrol with Donnic, combat is more fun than the other games, awesome looking zones, impressive CC, Qunari, better specs... yeah. I really like it. Any doubts I had over non-regenerative health, potions, and even 8 abilities is gone. Our stamina gets used so quickly its not like we can even use all our abilities every fight anyway.

Of course, it has major bugs and minor bugs, a few odd moments, not the longest main story, and far too many boring side-quests.

There is definitely a worrying amount of hate towards the game on this forum I just wanted to ask what the general consensus is
even though I liked DA2 its no secret that most people didn't like the game, with DA:O its the opposite the majority liked it

Whats the case with DA:I?
In my opinion the story is pretty good and the characters great (as expected from Bioware)
Overall its a very good game but boring side quests ( I just have no motivation exploring the areas with no connection to the main story like Emerald Graves) and a short story ( seems very rushed towards the end) prevent it from being one of my best games in recent years

Hopefully with a few lengthy story dlc's the game will be improved

Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate
Players gonna play, play, play, play
I'm just gonna ..............

:D

I thought it was great! It was much better than DA2. Lots of variety, great story, lots of choices, great characters. All things I have come to expect from Bioware games. I would say that the sidequests really sucked, however. I'd rather have some side quests with decent stories to them, over a lot boring sidequests with hardly any story to them.
