Let me be a hippie here.
Although this fellas are definitely not harmless I feel extremely bad about hunting them.
In the first playthrough I've hunted them all... For the achievement. But after each one of them I felt a bit bad... In the second playthrough I've yet to kill one and I'm nearly at the end.
The animation of them falling on their stomach when you hurt their legs enough & the animation of them dying...
Plus the fact all of the dragons are females and have children (not sad because of they are females, sad because they have children) made me feel a bit like I'm killing something that only wants to survive and feed its' babies.
But yeah, I'm a hippie.. Sooo...
Oh, and I don't kill the animals around (not on purpose, since I'm a mage this time around it seems very easy to make the party attack the poor creatures) except for the rams for that quest in the Hinterlands.

I'm pretty sure all those animals and people that got eaten by the dragons were minding their own business as well.
People are overrated. Dragons keep the human population down. ![]()

But what about those poor nugs and fennecs who most likely got roasted every now and then? They deserve justice! ![]()

Imagine a dragon swooping down into your back yard and chomping up your beloved dog or cat. That should cure you of this nonsense.

...It's breaking my heart.
.
I can relate to that.
This humiliating way of dying also struck me. I have a hard time killing them. Such majestic and proud beings slaugthered in the most primitive cynical way.
But I need the scales for my armor? ![]()
BTW:
Did you know that only 10% of soldiers in a war actually shoot to kill?
They made serious studies using ballistic material (bullets) to determine which bullets hit an enemy to kill. It turnedout 90% of all bullets deliberately was aimed away from the enemy in front of them. Usually they shoot above their heads or left and right side. They miss on purpose.
This indicates that only 10% of us actually likes killing. The rest dispise it.
It fits well with the scientific statistics of psycopaths.

RP your Inquisitor as a vegetarian who doesn't kill animals. Done.
Hard mode: RP your Inquisitor as a vegan who doesn't even use animal products (aka no leather allowed, you play the whole game in your Skyhold pajamas).

The way I see it... dragons are dangerous, hostile creatures. Beautiful and amazing, but they still do damage and kill people. They will attack you without attacking them. Also, the experience and loot is amazing. Some people don't mind missing out on that stuff but I'm greedy like that. I do feel bad when they fall down from attacking the legs, though. >.o

I look at it this way: In the day and age of a medieval world, a dragon is as much of a competing force as it is a predator force to humans. It's a viable threat, and whether one lives or dies can really make a difference between eating or not eating, starving to death. It's not just a cow or a few sheep; it's a whole lot of meals or perhaps all your potential coin for a long time, wool, milk - things you can't just go to market and buy but have to produce on your own. There is no insurance in Thedas. When the dragon eats it, it's gone!
Killing the dragon is a perfectly legitimate survival tactic.

The study you are referring to comes from a book called "On Killing", much of the data in that book is quite old (from the Vietnam War) and was rather dubious(there might have been a possible bias due to the antiwar movmeant). In Iraq, during the first Gulf War, there were so many head shots inflicted by American Marines that the American government did an investigation to make sure that the marines were not executing prisoners. Investigators found that the profusion of headshots was due to a combination of training, and how accurate the M4 assault rifle is. A head shot most certainly constitutes "shooting to kill."

The high dragons were all so beautiful and majestic. I'm a Qunari though so fighting them was a thrill. I honestly wish there were more of them.

**** those overgrown scaly rats with ginormous wings, do you see all those ****** dragonlings? Their bloodline will live on.
In the meantime, I have a world to save. They should consider it an investment to make sure their ugly ass kids have a world to live in. I need their mother's flesh and bones for nice new shiny armors, lolololol. Maybe next time they'll think twice about eating legendary weapons and trinkets.
Or maybe they won't, because they're dead. Hahahahaha, I rip through dragon guts like a man with 200 bucks and Chick-fil-a coupons in a whorehouse.

And here I thought that a lot of people (like really a lot) died from dragon attacks during their reappearance at the beginning of Dragon Age. Letting dragons go big on numbers, or in other words leaving them to their own devices is a bad move in my opinion. What if everyone acted like that and then suddenly dragons are attacking everything?
Vivienne says that hunters are afraid to go after a wyvern and Cassandra says that the Pentagasts the most famous family of dragon hunters are almost retired so not much to go on for the dragon hunting profession. So in the end of the day I do not feel sorry for the dragons ( I mean before now I didn't even know that was a thing) and like the Bull says its all uncontrolled raw power they have to be put down. It's literally like letting dinosaurs roam freely today.
Roleplaying aside the while/gold armor you can craft from dragon materials is just to sexy to pass so death to all the dragons!

Honestly, I feel worse killing goats.
Dragons... Well, to me they're 30 ton, flying, fire-breathing death-machines. They torch everything around them and are ridiculously dangerous to, well, to just about anyone who accidentally gets too close.
They're like man-eating tigers, only with scales that can block a sword and the ability to breath lightning. They have no fear and eat anything that moves. That spells out something that needs to be removed.
As for the babies, biologically speaking, there's a reason they have so many of them. The little bastard pick fights with everything they find, including each other. The broods are so big because they get themselves killed constantly. Instead having a small clutch and caring for the young individually, a dragon does the same thing most reptiles will do. Have a bunch and wish them the best of luck.

Um the same can be said for humans, elves, mages, and quanri. So basically everyone on Thedas could be deadly killing machines with the numbers. I suppose we should cut down all those populations too....

The problem is simply that you never see the monstrosities they inflict upon the surrounding lands.

But, damn were they beautiful. Best Dragons I have ever seen in a game. The problem is simply that you never see the monstrosities they inflict upon the surrounding lands. They don’t just, you know, hang out in their lair looking beautiful all day.
