OK, I think we're done here. The thread is clearly not going to get any better than that.
Why are all the characters ugly with no sex appeal?

Modders in general seem fixated on silky long hair, glowing eyes, piercings, and tattoos. These features are what you see the most in Elder Scrolls, Second Life, The Sims, Dragon Age, and the list goes on.
I can only assume some women find this kind of thing attractive since they play Second Life and The Sims with these types of looks in large numbers.

Good golly Ms. Molly, Vivienne...
EDIT: They're all pretty attractive and have their own appeals. I adore Iron Bull, and not because of his VA.
Am I wrong or is Viv really old?

Cassandra's incredibly sexy in an 'I could kill you with my thumb' kind of way.
Sera's romance line is nothing but girl on girl.
The Qunari inquistors 'saarebas' are rather impressive.
Vivy's ****** window was marvelous and her voice was as sweet as verbal diabetes.
Scout Harding is incredibly cute and I'm sure she's bottom heavy, I'm just sure dwarves are bottom heavy.

I'm sorry, I don't found her attractive to me.
I don't dislike women with short hair like Cassandra but I do dislike Sera haircut.

Well, it's difficult to answer, because I think women's tastes in men vary more than men's tastes in women. Dorian's bum is probably sexy for a lot of us, but for me the guy in this picture is plain ridiculous. I believe for quite some women, a sexy voice, humour etc. can do a lot to overcome a visualy less appealing npc model. (Fenris, Varric etc.)

Well, that pic is definitely better than this one (if you ask a woman):

I've seen pictures where they've modded out Dorian's mustache, lightened his skin colour or changed his hairstyle a bit, and he looks so plain without those features. So yeah, that mustache may seem way over the top but he needs it and rocks it. Ditto the eyeliner.
Same with Cassandra and her jaw - my initial impressions of her weren't too impressive, but in some later scenes when they're humanizing her and they do some frontal close-ups of her smiles or half-smiles, you start to realize that she's actually quite gorgeous and you can't picture her looking any other way to look that good.
Sera is one I wouldn't consider super attractive out of the companions, but honestly, if I saw someone in real life with her face (the ears would be missing, naturally) I would never ever consider that person ugly.

Although much of "attractiveness" is quite subjective, I think that a few people may have the impression that BioWare set out to have "characters" and then "eye candy". It could very well be that they created characters for something other than solely how they look in a screenshot. Maybe they didn't set out to create eye candy for its own sake? Now, that said, after getting *into* the game, I found both Cassandra and Dorian quite attractive once I spent some "time" with them. They both came out of their own "caricatures" nicely. Some characters (Blackwall, Sera) became LESS attractive after spending some time with them in game. If they wanted to cater to fan service, Morrigan and Leliana would likely have been romanceable this time as well. The fact that they weren't may indicate that they were attempting to create a game with a new and unique story, and not solely a dating sim that replicates North American hollywood/porn norms. Some games do, and I even play them and enjoy many of them. I am just not sure that was what was attempted here. In fact, I kind of got the impression that they were trying to actually *minimize* the importance of the romances in this game...though I may be totally wrong on that. It was just my gut feeling, and it didn't make my first playthrough any less enjoyable for what *was* there. Just an observation.
My personal experience was that if you actually spend time with the game, reading much of the info, some of them become quite endearing (some surprisingly so!) Some I want to push off the ramparts, but that has much more to do with personality than looks! To each their own!

Thoughts on my Dwarfisitor? I am merely curious.
She's adorable! I have yet to make a dwarf but I'm going to try to model her on Dagna or Sgt Harding, both of whom are the cutest dwarf ladies I've seen in the game.

I never got the impression that she's 'really old'. I think she was the pretty young mistress of a Duke for many years and she has aged into a position of power. I read her age as being mid-late 30's, probably. She's likely been the Duke's mistress for over a decade.

Ainevethe, you're not the only who noticed that about the romances in DA:I. From my view, the romances were strongest in DA:O, and they've been petering out in importance since then. To me, that's a mistake because if a romance is done well, it can serve to emotionally engage and invest you in the game so much more than if the romances are placed on the backburner.

Well, that's only true for a few of the romances in DA: O. Keep that in mind.
