Why are all the characters ugly with no sex appeal?

ME took "eye candy for males" to a ridiculous degree tho, im bisexual so im perfectly comfortable with that kinda thing but stuff like the constant ass shots of Miranda made me roll my eyes

ME's camera in general seemed to gravitate toward the ass. It's not just a Miranda thing, but it's most notable there.

I don't see the issue with it. But then i'm straight male. I also like Cassandra. There is nothing inherently wrong with giving some 'eye candy' . Especially when pornographic material and even models exist IRL. Aslong as everyone gets something i'm happy. So i don't see whats wrong in people asking for 'eye candy' even if its not of my sexual orientation. Female Gamers seem happy with current choices. When they complained on previous titles i aggreed with them , now its men asking and suddenly words like 'entitled / Grow up ' are brandied around.

Only time ive seen that kinda stuff is when certain guys kept making threads expressing outrage that they didn't have more choices then everyone else or that the female characters weren't "attractive enough" for their tastes

Lets be honest non straight male gamers also have been complaining for awhile. Everyone at some point is right. Its up to the creators to decide , and in this case its up to EA to decide if they want to make an extra buck.

I agree with this, but about 3/4ths of the forum response for complaints is either "I don't care" or "Make the same insipid jokes for the ten millionth time". Because, you know, it's just fine to ridicule an opinion that isn't in line with yours, especially if it's from a particular viewpoint

And I disagree. "For my taste every companion is ugly and unappealing" - is an opinion, everyone is entitled to one. But "all the characters ugly with no sex appeal" - is a statement, like a universal truth everyone is supposed to recognize - which is unacceptable in a discussion on the subject of taste. Hence, harsh response from  those who disagree or even feel offended by such accusation of beloved characters.

It seemed deliberate when it came to Miranda, maybe it was accidental but it happened enough for people to notice

Well it's just all a matter of taste isn't it. What some people find sexually appealing others won't. That does not make the characters in the game unappealing. In fact as others have said, many find them to actually be very attractive.

Not that looks should matter anyway. Why does it matter how they look if they are compelling and interesting characters?

I don't care much about the NPC's, I still like some of them: Leliana looks better than in previous games, Cullen is fine, then Iron Bull, Blackwall... and that's it. Cassandra and Josephine scares me, but at least they stay distant, and Sera... that headshot scene was fun, then goodbye. Same with the Circle "Lady". The good part is that my "hero" can focus on saving the word... the bad part is that I can't create a character that it's acceptable - only very ugly characters. Beauty is subjective, but the lack of variety in character creation forces with living with what we have. Some scenes requires to watch your characters face... the rest of the time the backside of the armor (again very limited choices, I actually ignore stats, just to use the less ugly variant).

I liked my Warden, had multiple characters. Used default Hawke, both were nice. But in this latest DA... I wish I could create a single character like those were. Luckily "romances" and "sex appeal" doesn't interest me in games, and can be avoided, or this game would turn into a nightmare. I would quote Isabella, just don't remember how she said exactly; that sex (and romance) it's like eating; if the food is bad (or you don't like it), you may throw up... better to avoid it. You still need to eat in the end, and good food it's a delight.

Which is why it's just fine now, but I didn't see anyone standing up for the elf designs in DA2. Funny how that works. I think it just especially gets a lot of flak because Cass is the only real option (Yes, Josie is there, but she's..stationary) and moreover, she had her entire facial structure rearranged from DA2 to DAI. It's decidedly more harsh and angular, and then there's the scar.

I also think this forum as a whole is really nitpicky when it comes to "Poster is speaking for (poster)" and "poster is speaking for everyone". They usually aren't trying to speak for everyone, and it's not necessary to chime in every single time someone uses "our" or "we" instead of "me" or "my".

Wierdly enougth some of the best nudity mods on skyrim and the 1st one in on Oblivion were done by women.

but Kotaki is a bit to SJW to promote nudity in games in a positive light.

I especially like the way she walks. its very efeminate (spelling?)

Effeminate means unmanly. It is used, normally as a criticism, to describe men or boys or their tastes or behaviours that appear to violate social gender norms by not being "masculine" enough. Bad idea all 'round. Bad word. No good can come of it's use. If you think Cass has a sexy walk, may be best to just say that.

Actually, it kind of is a Miranda thing. No other companion in either ME2 or 3 got this angle with as much frequency, if at all. I don't recall seeing Mordin's froggy behind :P

Every time her braid-crown comes into view, I feel like I'm looking at a paradox of the universe.

Yeah, that bit really confuses me as well. I've seen some braid crowns before, but this just seems like it's held there by magic.

Those truly were attrocious.  Hated pretty much all but two.  Zeveran looked cross eyed.  Merril wasn't too bad.  I was scared because I wasn't fond of anything about Anders and not having downloaded the DLC for Sebastien my first playthrough and only knowing that the other LI option for a straight female was going to be an elf... however Fenris turned out to be a pleasant surprise, not just because he didn't look weird and cross eyed, but because his attitude and story line was far more compelling than I had expected once seeing and meeting the rest of the elves in the game.

Of note though, it is interesting that the two most visually appealing elfs (in my opinion) were potential love interests.  I'm guessing they took extra care with those knowing that most people likely would not find their revamp of the elves very attractive.  Glad they abandoned that look for DAI.

The word you're looking for here is feminine :)

I see it was already addressed.  Sorry for sounding redundant.  I'd delete the post if I could but can only hide it.

It's possible the Cassandra braid is one piece of hair she grows long, braids, then pins into place around her head.

Possible, but unlikely.

I think Bioware hates us straight males. The two hottest chicks in the game (Morrigan and Leliana of course) are non romancable. Josephine is kinda hot but she has the worst dress in the history of video games and she doesn't really count as romance because she doesn't even take her dress off in the game. Don't say Cassandra because she is a man. I also hope we will get at least one hot chick to romance like Morrigan, Leliana, Ashley and Miranda in Mass Effect 4. Straight males make up the majority of gamers Bioware don't you forget that if you want to have good sales.

The cast is very attractive. Out of all the DA games I only found Zevran and Ohgren to be the least attractive companions. Now Iron Bull joins them. I swear that dude is an art experiment gone wrong.  Even Cole and Justice in a rotted body look better than IB.
