1. The new lvling system in my opinion is a step back i have only having 4 upgrade per power and there are even less than first game. I know the first game was not as deep as game like dragon age but still it was huge step back and just limits it into more of shooter.
2. Scanning the planets has to be the worst part of the game. I really rather have the mako back it boring and after 1 or 2 planets it's so dam boring.
3. How you earn weapons is also really bad. I don't know abut rest of you but i liked buying weapons instead of upgrading the limited ones in thes ship.
Last all i can say me1 was trying to an rpg and shooter and did both okay but nether was great and well in me2 they pretty much went more shooter and stripped down the rpg parts. Sure i still really like the game and will finish it and play it to death but at the end of the day if i want an rpg ill go back to dragon age on my pc.

The game has hub-cities, quests, conversations, exploration, micro-management. These are all classified as RPGs. Can you walk around the planet Sera on Gears of War and talked to people? It sounds like peoples perceptions of an RPG are different. To me it's not about stats but the experience and the immersion it presents, the immersion that you can't get from playing a normal 'shooter'.

No just a minority of silly people whom think their definition of what an RPG is the only definition, also with them making such assumptions so short into the game... *facepalm*
I also find it funny how these people tend to put these posts in the [No Spoilers allowed] section, do they think their opinion is going to sway everyone else that hasn't got the game to not buy it yet? Is it really hard for them to register the game or something?

That's like saying Borderlands is equal on all fronts.Deltaboy37-1 wrote...
You guys are so far off. It is not a shooter with RPG elements. If anything it is equal on all fronts.

For those who praise the first game, the big number of skills to choose from. What did you do? max out weapon skill, max out super awesome power, do the same thing as 90% of the playerbase did. What real choices did you make?
That's imho the real problem, most of the things weren't even choices. Same with weapons and armour, 1 good weapon, 1 good armour, whoever gotten new weapons after they got specter weapons? The ones I had were so much better that EVERY WEAPON that dropped was JUNK.
The game is not worst, it's better. Try to enjoy it rather than play 2 hours and start ranting. The story is so good, once you get into that part, you will find out why you want to complete the game.

The new combat sytem works, makes you think, and is mildly challenging.
The combat in ME1 was simply a joke at early levels. (Ex: Shep is a highly trained N7 soldier and has to upgrade his snipe to make it look like he doesnt have parkinsons disease?)
Bioware have come out and said time and again that it is an RPG shooter, a mix.
It was never, and will never be an RPG exclusive like so many on here seem to rant about.

I mean why was immunity even optional in ME1? Did any soldier or infiltrator not max it out?
Streamlining stats and talents is a good thing. Having an over abundance of either just makes it more likely that folks will screw up their characters.

Think of your leveling up like reaching the major milestones for upgrading your stats from the old ME1 system. Normal, Advanced, Master. It wasn't about the 2% upgrades with the old system, it was all about reaching the big unlocks. Now we get a level above Master, the 4th evolveable teir.

In most RPGs the abundance of stats/talents is an illusion. There are typically 2-3 solid paths to take and anything else just isn't worth it.

Thank you. Stats don't make an RPG. It's the immersion and the growth of your character among other things.

Is it just me or what, an rpg without specialization or stats makes the game quite boring and ridiculously easy. Please dont think iam a troll, iam a hardcore fan of bioware since playing baldur on ps2 but iam only going to play this sequel to see the story since theres no challenge. Hopefully SWTOR will be nothing like this.
lol who are you kidding, swtor is going to be so dumbed down it will be a travesty. Anyways ME1 for all its flaws was great, but ME2 delivers on the more important parts of the game. Most people aren't stat ****s so appealing to only that crowd makes no sense.

If you want a more stats based approach, there is always the older Bioware stuff and Dragon Age. If you want a more immersive experience, less stats based, just look at Bioware's work KOTOR onwards.
