It is a Shooter/Rpg mix. Ifyou dont like shooting things with minimal interuptions then dont play ME2, stop complaining on the forum to people who do like it and go play a japanese rpg.

Case and point: instead of improving or fixing the problems, Bioware decided to just get rid of them entirely. Imagine if Assassin's Creed 2 just took out features from the game because the devs were too lazy to figure out a way to fix them.

stats don't define a rpg, they are made to make it easier to grasp a situation and react to them. A real rpg doesn't have stats, doesn't have numbers, doesn't have dice to roll. A real RPG is played by telling a story and telling the dm how you react. This is of course the boring True RPG and most people went with the d&d systems and now the d20 system, which is a good system for action, but the d10 gives far more custimizability.
For those who praise the first game, the big number of skills to choose from. What did you do? max out weapon skill, max out super awesome power, do the same thing as 90% of the playerbase did. What real choices did you make?
That's imho the real problem, most of the things weren't even choices. Same with weapons and armour, 1 good weapon, 1 good armour, whoever gotten new weapons after they got specter weapons? The ones I had were so much better that EVERY WEAPON that dropped was JUNK.
The game is not worst, it's better. Try to enjoy it rather than play 2 hours and start ranting. The story is so good, once you get into that part, you will find out why you want to complete the game.
Dead on i think that Yes you could max out all skills and not put any in weapons but how many people actually would have done that! lol Having 12-15 or how ever many lvls on each skills is a bit pointless aswell they gave you 3 SP when you first lvl up anyway so they could have halfed them or more and it would be the same! Mass Effect 1 is my all time favourite game and i have played it over 40 times al the way through but this one is what they said streamlined!

Streamlining is a nicer way of saying "dumbed-down."

Now, irregardless of whether I like the simplified ME2 version of an RPG or not, I definitely don't like Bioware for this shady business move.
As far as I knew, there was information all over the net...including live chats/gameplay footage which both showed, and discussed the changes.
Not sure you can really call it a "shady business move"

Lets just agree that the universe the game is set in is the same, and that there are gameplay changes that differentiate ME2 and ME1 (yet, unless people are starting mods right now!).
Much love

The correct terminology here is Action-RPG, which is exactly what the original game was too. Mass Effect was mostly about aiming your gun and shooting. Sorry, but it was. The original game was nowhere close to being a hardcore RPG.
ME 2, like ME, is an Action-RPG. That's what it is.

Hopefully the rest of the industry doesn't follow Bioware's footsteps. Instead of fixing the issues (in this case, the RPG elements/inventory system) they decided to remove it completely. Every reviewer who says it is a "streamlined" system is kidding themselves. Then again, game reviewers aren't exactly the best when it comes to credibility.

In most RPGs the abundance of stats/talents is an illusion. There are typically 2-3 solid paths to take and anything else just isn't worth it.
I mean why was immunity even optional in ME1? Did any soldier or infiltrator not max it out?
Streamlining stats and talents is a good thing. Having an over abundance of either just makes it more likely that folks will screw up their characters.
This is actually the reason people are pissed off. They remember the times when they had to pour through stats, dig into math equations, stress all night, worry and plot, replay the game dozens of times just to get that character with the "best" stats. And, they LOVED doing it. They totally loved all the suffering and misery that something as unimportant as a video game could produce for them. They also loved feeling the illusion of being superior to other people which would create even more problems for them and exponentially more suffering.
I think those people are idiots and should be made into batteries.
You're kinda smart:)

As you apparently haven't even played it yet, your opinions are sorely lacking at this juncture.
A good example is the inventory system - it was a general mess in ME1 and really added nothing beyond making you stare at it and shuffle through it for longer then needed to be done. ME2 did away with it and the game is, overall, far better for it. Could we argue inventory would still be useful? Of course - but ME2 focused on getting YOU into the action and meat instead of breaking down generic rifle #234153450 into omni-gel. Again.
You are, sadly, trolling just to troll. There are plenty of good "negative" posts highlighting what they feel are issues but you aren't one of them. If you disgust the game you haven't apparently even played [have you even purchased it?] yet, kindly spare us the pitiful rhetoric until you do.

Second ... I was very excited with the fact that relationships from the 1st game will continue in the 2nd ... well if there wasn't a photo of my main love interest from ME1 in my Shep's "something", and I've didn't read somewhere on the net that some characters from ME1 will be the joining as a teammates i would have probably tossed the game to the thrash after like an 2 hours for not drawing me in like bio games always or at least usually do. I felt like it wasn't the continuation of my favourite game at all. Next thing ... I love all these things they added to the game, but I hate everything they changed from the original. But even more I hate the fact that characters that made ME1 such a huge success, characters that i grow to love so much are not playable at all (Yes i knew that, but didn't believed it ... at least not with the main ones or love interests). I just wish I could have my old team, the "new" ship (which is by far the only real success I've encountered this far) and than have a new characters joining ... letting me decide who's comming with me ... and not be robbed of my old friends. Played to the recen't time, recruted one "old friend" which kicked ass and finally met my love interest for the first time ... had a great music in the background, feeling that everythings is going to be great again ... than i had a little discussion (I call it 10 sec of happiness in ME2) ... than love interest is leaving me again on a bad note which can't be avoided ... and than my next stop is to go look for more new characters i don't care about or am interested at all.
So far Me 2 is giving me a hard time ... a really big one ... If you wan't to know how I feel right now ... I wish I stayed with ME1 and not bought this one at all ... it's hard, it seems biased of me, but it's my painfull truth that I gave you ... to be fair I still have a lot ahead of me (yes?no?) so magic can happen but somehow i don't think it's going to happen.
Newbies to the game might enjoy it, but this one old ME hat doesn't.
What happened to you guys (pointing at Bioware), you forgot your game? Or is this some sort of a "Trashy start, Epic end" kind of plan?
PS: I'll return with my end game review, if I manage to continue playing this game.
