Isn't that what the whole discussion about romances comes down to in the end?

Pre-coffee over here, so bare with me.  ;)

Not really, no.  To me, making romance requests for archetypes (such as with the gay KISA thread) and asking for ideas for future content is not the same as asking them to change everything right now.   Putting forth suggestions is one thing.  Personality types, ideas, ect.  Asking that all of the LIs be available to all players all the time is quite different.  And I've seen folks in this thread ask them to change the existing characters to "all bisexual."

Also, most requests aren't because the DA team failed to match someone's head canon about their Inquisitor.  It's usually because they don't like their options in the game (see: the straight guys that don't like Cass/Josie, lesbians that don't like Sera/Josie,) or they have ideas for the future.   They do not ask for this to be changed because the character that they rolled in their mind doesn't match the options shown at release.

It's one thing to make requests, but if you're demanding that the DA2 approach needs to make a comeback because of that kind of head canon, it's probably time to take a few steps back from the forums.

You're lying! You're making too much sense for the pre-coffee to be believable. :P

I wasn't referring to head canons specifically earlier, which I should have noted. There is a part of me that's getting really annoyed at the fact that people don't seem to realize that Bioware will not always be able to meet their specific needs in romances. In this case, I am referring to the people that will act like children throwing a tantrum if they didn't get what they want. It's one thing to be disappointed about not being able to romance a character with the type of Inquisitor of your choice, may that be gender and/or race, but some take it way out of proportion and just come across as entitled and obnoxious.

But yes, I definitely agree that players should be able to put forth suggestions for future games as you mentioned. But then again, Bioware isn't obligated to comply to these requests and they should be able to write what they want without being attacked for what they decide to write.

But these are my own frustrations about a part of the fan base.
