glad you guys like your MMO
Oh, I do. MMOs are my most played games, even! Dozens of them, and I'm not exaggerating. Pretty fond of this singleplayer RPG BioWare just released, though, so I'm not playing any of those right now.

No surprise, like I wrote somewhere else, EA wanted the MMO pie and they got what they wanted with DAI. Thank you for the confirmation Lathrim.
It's not perfect, but nothing is. DAI is the most fun I've had in singleplayer in front of my computer for a long time. Bioware should be very proud and I can't wait to see what they have on deck for expansions/DLC/DA4. It's re-kindled some faith in ME4 for me too.
I really enjoyed too. I'm just not ready to call it perfect or the greatest thing ever. Forever.
Improvements can always be made.
On my second playthrough on PC.
Really enjoying the game. Even my husband who is kind of *meh* about games now, gave up watching FOOTBALL yesterday to play. (personally I was floored....football is like church time to him)
(I don't play MMOs so I can't compare it)
As with everything*, there are improvements that can be made.
But this game for what it is and what they tried to do with it is great.
(and on Ultra settings the game is beautiful!)
I am not disillusioned/upset with this game like I was with my pre-order of Destiny.
*The only perfect thing in this world is my apple pie.
Mass effect team i am sure it takes notes from DaI.. we are going to be blown away. fact is Da series and Me series are my favorite games since Kotor
Same here, although Borderlands comes pretty close
... I read/heard somewhere that many of the DA:I team are now working on ME:Next as well, so... hope abounds!
This forum in general is just all negative and full of entitlements.
"The game is boring mmo grind, my opinion is the most important and Bioware should obey my instructions."

I like it too great game
my major complaints are the short story and boring sidequests hopefully some of that will be fixed in future DLC's
There are a fair number of naysayers on the forum but that's true of any forum, people are more likely to post when angry than content so it gives a distorted view of how the game is viewed. I have to say I think this game has been generally well received by most people. I mean if you were around during DAII the slightest positive post was normally drowned out in series of posts about how the poster was wrong and/or a blind fanboy.
What's not to like.
It's easy. It's simple.
It's like being fed Pablum with a baby spoon.
Santa has a sack full of 30% rings to give out on Christmas morning.
I can see how excited everyone is.
While I lament some things about the game like shortness of the main quest DA:I is crack rocks. I've been on it nonstop since release. At worst, I could say that the game isn't that all great and I'm only playing it like a fiend because I've been starving for Bioware game for 3 years but that's me putting all my Ability Points in the Hater Specialization.
However, I specialize in Necromancy not hate. The game is great.
Yeah, I like the game as well. It has its flaws sure, but overall its great and enjoyable.
I enjoyed the game but i think its rather flawed and have no issue with others expressing where they think the flaws are.
Far too much grind open world side questing imo.
Surely i'm not alone?
You're definitely not alone. ![]()
glad you guys like your MMO
You do know what MMO stands for, right? Open world does not necessarily equate to MMO. Saying DA:I is an MMO is like saying Skyrim is an MMO. Ridiculous, right?
If DA:I is an MMO, it's a damn good one. Because I don't play MMOs. I played WoW once for about an hour. Hated it. I played ToR for about 20 hours total. Thought it was decent, but still not a fan of the genre. Compare those to DA:I where I've thrown in 80 hours in less than a month and still going strong. Great MMO....
No surprise, like I wrote somewhere else, EA wanted the MMO pie and they got what they wanted with DAI.
The game is epic and awesome, good show Bioware!
I've enjoyed my utterly silly completionist run, but I have to admit I won't do another. I'll play the game again, don't get me wrong, but I am not doing another completionist run. There is too much fluff in the shape of fetch quests, shard collections, bottles(!) and mosaics. I'd trade all of that for a handful of really substantial side quests, preferably spanning multiple regions. Right now, I'm alternating between playing DAMP and cursing DAMP's many, many connection and matchmaking issues.
Overall, though, there is much more I enjoy about the game than stuff that annoys me. It's a very solid game and I've had 150 hours of entertainment out of it so far with more to come (that includes DAMP time). Perfect? Not really, but very good and better than most.
I think the quality of the game is reflected not by the absence of over-the-top hate in these forums, but the number of individuals engaging in such hate. If you compare the DA:1 level of hate to DA2 level of hate, after release, the difference is several orders of magnitude.
Back when DA2 came out, they even had to create a second general forum, specifically for registered game owners, because the normal general forum was so thoroughly swamped with very loud complaints. The fact that DA:I receives a tiny fraction of the hate DA2 did, shows me that the general reception of the game cannot have been bad at all.
I don't mind complaining about the features I don't like in a game, but I'd rather give constructive criticism than knee-jerk anger-outburst criticism.
And I DO very much like the game. There's a lot to improve on it, but even as it is, it ranks high among Bioware's games.
This game has some bugginess, and the skill trees aren't that deep, but we can't have everything. Solid game. Worth the sixty bucks. Though, that's just how I generally feel about Bioware games. A few things could be better, and they usually stand out because everything else is executed pretty well. At least to me. My standards are never that high.
Wouldn't getting a slice of the MMO pie involve subscription fees, micro-transactions, or some kind of steady monetization?
I think they tried that with the multiplayer. Only issue was that the multiplayer doesn't have enough for a lot of people to want to spend money on it.

This game IS amazing...
It looks amazing in a lot of ways. But also in a lot of ways I'm not convinced yet. I don't like how the tactics work, I'm lookiing for Bioware to add more tactics options for our companions, 'cause I like setting up those.
Surely i'm not alone?
You most certainly are not. I've been spending most of my discretionary time playing rather than writing about my experience playing, hence the lack of effusive praise, but this is one of the best titles I have played this year and another gem from my favorite publisher. I can't even begin to quantify it as it compares to DA:O or DA II. Its still too new. But I right now I feel like the first thing I will do upon finishing the main campaign is to re-up with a new class and character and experience it again. That is typically a good sign.
Message boards tend to attract cynicism, and I'm OK with that because people need outlets to voice frustrations, concerns, and feedback. As long as people are respectful and focus on objective areas to improve, I'm not bothered. Still I'm glad to see you take the time to share your appreciation for something. The people who worked on this deserve to know you appreciate their efforts.
Let me put it this way: DAI could have been great. It could have taken the depth and atmosphere from the previous ones, it could have had consequence and choice, it could have had and open world, it could have not been an mmo failure made singleplayer, it could have been a PC game made for PC gamers by PC gamers, it could have been so much more.
For me, it's the first Bioware game that after 150+ hours on several characters, I can't really find the will to complete, even for the sake of the story. It's just disappointing. But then that's just my opinion.
