So, I've been playing DAMP for a little while now and I noticed that it would be a simple matter for me to keep people alive all day long if they grouped tighter for most mob situations. Barrier (which negates tons of damage to the entire party while increasing stamina/magic regen) is a small AOE. I notice so many assassins and melee characters rush in to get those kills up ASAP that I'm only able to barrier myself and maybe 1 other person. It's either that or I can barrier the 1 melee guy who took off like a bat out of hell to get their kills in. If groups hung back for a fraction of a second as a group more, Barrier would be way more effective in the trials. Also, at the banner portion, if everyone groups somewhat close to the person with barrier, they should be able to keep a barrier on everyone almost constantly (at least from lv 18-20 they certainly can). The problem I see is that people run around all buck wild and end up taking tons of damage from it. Q_Q.

That's all I have. Thanks for listening to my mini rant. hee-hee.

Yeah, all group up close together so the DC can one shot you all and cause a wipe. Seems legit. I agree on everything you've said except it's just not viable on 5/5 for the reason I said above. Also I find as an AW or a Templar/lego, I don't really need barrier. Maybe if you stand next to the caster/s and pop it, you'll have much success.

When I play a Keeper, I usually run in together with a Warrior, any warrior. And then Barrier us both. If Assassin is nearby, good for him.

... May not be the best for other Mages or Archers...

That's generally a bad idea if they're Legionnaire or Templar.

Save it for when they actually need it.

I find a lot of times the Keeper won't barrier me when I'm using a warrior, and instead start off with chain lightning. Used to be that was only the routine PUGs and the Threatening guys knew a little better, but the good matches I remember seem to have passed me by for Perilous by now :(

Depends on what "generally" refers to.

If generally just refers to "in most games played" then I would think its generally good idea. Its good to know that good tank does not need Barrier but that is useless in "in most games played", well, at least if my own anecdotes have any bearing, generally.

If generally refers to "in most game I played" with my mates on comms etc then yes its probably bad idea. Then again, if the group sticks together, everyone stays with tank and it would also be good idea to cast it.

In short, playing in PUG does not have good and bad ideas generally, but good and bad ideas for specific situations in specific match.

Save it when you need it .. sounds good. Like when? Seconds before battle or seconds before someone gets two shotted? So back to initial question: Why don't they wait for my Barrier? Because they know you are saving it. There you go.

Advice for people with a barrier-caster in their group: as soon as you see/hear the sound of the Barrier being cast, stack on the caster.

There is a distinctive sound, and the caster with hold his/her hand up and he/she will point in the general direction of the cast. To be honest, when I play I am pointing at my own feet. Also I stop and cast barrier before I enter a room that contains a mob.

I hope this helps.
