Are there actually t2 weapon schematics for 2h weapons? The stuff I have for grip/haft/pommel is all crap. Other classes I have are lacking in schematics or higher level tier schematics. I thought maybe I would unlock stuff from challenges but I haven't seen anything yet.

Nothing yet, unfortunately. Devs have stated in the MP streams that they may (likely will) have schematics as rewards for the weekly community events, whenever those start up.

Bah! Ok thank ya. I'm assuming it means that the message that pops up and says you can unlock schematics from challenges is complete crap?

Yeah, I think they were either expecting to have the weekly challenges up and running out the gate, or they just proactively added messages for things they don't have yet.
