- Quick save at a distance from the pot. If you save too close to the pot, its content will stay the same.
- Always leave 1 item or gold in the chest.
- Load the quick save until you get a tier 3 schematic you want to keep. Next you have to run back to the zone entrance and zone out and back in, to refresh the pot and make a new quick save to load.
As you can see In the video I always jump on top of the pillar in beginning and walk down to the pot. It's not necessary to do it like that. Quick save (f5) on top of the pillar works as well. w→f→esc→f9→repeat.
This side quest is called deep trouble.
Spoiler
You start the quest by clicking on the door to Valammar. http://i.imgur.com/2iRpHuO.jpg It's locked and the quest point's you to the location of the key.
Inside Valammar you need two gears to open the vault. I recommend going here when you can kill level 8 mobs, but It's doable with stealth as early as you can get there. I should have made a new video since I forgot to show two thing in the video. First one is the reason why I brought Cassandra with me. She need's to pull aggro from the darkspawn inside the vault while you open the other vault door in there. You are going to use that vault door as exit and entrance. After opening the other vault door, head out and rezone. The darkspawn inside the vault is gone the next time you enter Valammar. You can bring Varric with you and use him for stealth if you don't play a rouge. If you found something in the chest you want to keep, the stealth duration is long enough for you to run past all the mobs on your way out of Valammar. Zone out and back in to refresh the chest. When you go back in, the Vault door's are open and just run the shortest route to the chest.
Interesting, will be useful on my next nightmare run
why would one do nightmare while abusing exploits.
YUou know, this is exploit, right? In game which is about a gear, exploiting it to have full set of tier 3 early in the game is game breaking.
You'd better play casual, will earn more honor. Doing this on nightmare for achievement is weak thing to do, since, your achievement wont be really "earned"

Oh for the love of.. get your head out of it. There is no difference between him using the farming exploit to get some good gear early and him getting lucky from searching the hundreds of RNG chests scattered throughout the hinterlands.
I am on nightmare, I am only level 9, I rolled lucky on one of the chests in dwarfsons pass and got a superior enchanters mail schematic.. It has made me near indestructible.. I didn't exploit, I got LUCKY. Does this mean when I finish this play through I would not have earned it because I was using equipment stronger than I technically should have for my current level? Or does he not earn it because he got his drops from farming instead of getting lucky? Hell, the only real difference is a farmer gets "lucky" through reloading for hours whilst everyone else prays to dread wolf they get a good drop.
If you do not want to use an exploit, congratulations you win the honour of watching me eat your cookie. If someone wants to farm stronger tier loot, let them, it does not effect you in any way what so ever. Hell, when I finished the last play through I ended up only having what.. 5 helmet schematics total.. not a lot of difference from character to character.. I wish someone had shown me the farm exploits, maybe then I could get my guys some helmets that matched their gear instead of everyone except Dorian running around in the superior inquisition helm you get in the hissing wastes, who was wearing the inquisitor hat, T2, but who gives a ****, it looked good on him.

Well there is a difference between him using the farming exploit to get some good gear early and him getting lucky from searching the hundreds of RNG chests scattered throughout the hinterlands. There are only 1 or 2 chest in the hinterlands that will give u tier 2 and 3 gear, and if u get lucky odds are u only getting 1 higher tier schematic. Where this farming exploit is used to get a multiple number of higher tier schematics.
And whats that means is that u are going to be more powerful then intended at that point, which does kind of defeat the purpose of playing on a higher difficulty.
That being said, people can play their game however they want. Its their game.

the same reason why i ignored a moron that said DAO was easy because he abused of Alistair's provoke and putted him under the force field all the time. Exploit abusers desserve no recognition at all
Let's try to stay on topic, no reason to bash each other and get this topic locked. If the exploits only effect you, ala SP game, then by all means use them if you want. Just please don't come to the forums complaining how easy the game is or how boring farming is.

The way someone chooses to enjoy a singleplayer game has no effect on you or your game. Let people play the game how they choose. Who are you to tell them otherwise?

This ^. Another farming area, that can be accessed relatively early on, is The Still Ruins dungeon in the Western Approach. Initially, there is very little combat there. You can travel directly there, from any location, and search the various "chests". One of them even contains an Amulet of Power for Dorian, and it is possible to find T3 Schematics in this dungeon.

The Still Ruins is nice for schematics but, you have to have a lot of power at your disposal to reach it...
What level do you have to be at to perform this exploit anyway?
If it is level 16+, you would be better farming at other places, like the Western Approach's or Emprise's dungeons.
Also, if this exploit takes place after Skyhold (arguably you can access the area before, albeit at a lower level) it would serve almost no purpose. As soon as you hit Skyhold you can travel to the Hissing Wastes and loot the Tombs of Fairel for some crazy end-game level loot. I normally loot those Tombs at levels 13 or 14. On Nightmare, with no exploits, I just face the higher level enemies and take what is mine.
I would only call this method worthwhile if you can loot the Vault of Valammar pre-Skyhold regardless of level and still get Tier 3 stuff with variety and consistency.

I beleive this is what was intended.I beleive you only need to be level 6....I may be wrong though.
I made a new char and another video of how to get a good tier 2 schematics as soon as you get to haven. It's not really worth doing if you plan to go straight to t3 farming though.

I would argue it is as many T2 stuff looks good also..Helm of Inquisitor, some good upgrades to swords and others are T2 that I def use..nice vid!
I farmed that Haven chest for about en hour. I Found a blue helmet schematic of Inquisition Scout hat, but no helm of the inquisitior. That helmet can probably be found there if you have the patience. On the other side of the room from the tier 3 pot inside the vault of valammar, there's a chest with tier 2 schematics, so it's possible to farm tier 2 and 3 at the same time there. Forgot to mention that.
