The title is pretty much self-explanatory. We're just over two weeks away from 2015, so it's time to start reflecting back on 2014.

There has been some good games this year, but some bad ones as well. Which game would be your pick for best (and worst) game of the year?

For me, the best game I've played this year was Wolfenstein: The New Order, but I felt utter disappointment from Destiny...

I haven't played that many games this year, so it might be a couple months before I could properly judge 2014.

Best

Dragon Age: Inquisition

The Swapper (though technically it came out last year, it was ported to Sony consoles this year)

Worst

I don't really have a worst though Watch Dogs was exactly as I expected which was disappointing. I suppose I could say the same about Destiny as well.

DA:I is probably the best game I played this year. Biggest letdown for me was Wildstar. :|

Of the two games I bought this year

Best (though not without it's issues) - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Worst - Bound By Flame. I don't know what I expected.

Best of the year for me would be close between South Park, Dragon Age, Far Cry, and Shadows of Mordor. There wasn't really one game that stood out from the rest like there have been the past few years - there were a decent amount of very good games, but nothing truly amazing.

I don't really have a worst; I generally only pay full price for games if I'm almost sure I'll like them. In a year or so when a whole bunch of other games have dropped in price enough for me to try them I might have an answer.

DAI is my best game of the year, but you have to keep in mind that I haven't tried many new games this year (I'll be catching up on my collection for years to come...).

Like Cthulhu42, I tend to pay full price for games I'm sure I'll have substantial fun with, but otherwise wait for a 50%+ sale up to a year or two later... I'm a conscientious consumer that businesses hateee.

But I will at times spend $100s on those games for sale so Steam and kinda Origin still make money from me.

Best is probably Divinity: Original Sin.

Worst... eh. I'll say Destiny, but that's just because it isn't as much fun as the other 2014 games I've played. Still liked it well enough.

I haven't played very many games that were released this year. Mainly going through my back log/re playing old favorites. But from the ones I've played it goes as follows:

The best would have to be Divinity: Original Sin. I would say DA:I but I haven't had time to play it yet.

The worst would have to be Dark Souls 2. And not because it's a terrible game. Just out of the few games that I've played that were released this year. DS2 was a less memorable some what disappointing follow up to DS1.

Wow, I thought Dark Souls2 was supposed to be pretty good...

It has been a pretty crappy year for PC gaming to be honest, Console gaming got Destiny, Infamous: Second Son and GTA V. So I'm gonna go with Watch_Dogs as the best game of the year. As for the worst, I'd go with Assassin's Creed: Unity.

I didn't play much this year, in retrospect.

Best was probably Inquisition.

All the stuff that was reportedly awful I kind of skipped.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, though DA:I is an extremely close runner-up.

Worst is probably Watch Dogs, though it had some great ideas attached.

It is pretty good. I just don't think it lived up to the standards Demon's and Dark Souls set. I did enjoy my time with it but I just didn't enjoy it quite as much as the previous Souls games. Especially DS1.

Fixed.

At least we got some strategy and Divinity:OS style games.

Dark Souls 2 was one of the most amusing games this year.

I've heard good thing about Dark Souls 2 though I'm not likely to try it. You guys got GTA V, Isn't that enough for you? :D And Destiny, Man! I'm looking forward to the PC port of Destiny.

DS2 will likely be easier in difficulty for people starting out with the souls series, but I'm not sure it'd be my first reccomendation; It isn't on the same legendary status as the first two.

You'll likely get the most bang out of your buck with Dark Souls 1. Twice the game for half the price.

Best game(s) of the year (tied): Titanfall, Wolfenstein, Diablo 3 UEE, DAI

Worst game of this year or any year ever: Destiny

Honorable mention: Halo MCC (it's not working well online but it's still great anyway)

Best goes to The Walking Dead Season 2.

Worst... uh... I only played a few new games this year and enjoyed them for the most part. So I'll just be a dick and say Dragon Age: Inquisition even though I haven't played it.

Did Titanfall come out in 2014?

I'd say that was a blunder, but not necessarily a bad game.

It was fun, just not for very long.

What about greatest dissapointment of the year? Several contenders for that.
