Personally, I think Josephine is kinda charming. Just may go for her, just for kicks.

I am a straight female and I will be romancing both Sera and Dorian at some point. I already have a qunari made for Sera. And I am not really into horned men in IRL either, but I will probably romance Bull as well.

My favorite Origins playthrough was as a straight brown dude from the dwarf ghetto. I am none of those things.
In DAI, I'll try every combination out eventually. No LI is safe.

I was wondering how many people choose to romance someone for a roleplay that they wouldn't be interested in IRL. Straight guys playing a gay romance, lesbians going for a straight guy, elves romancing menacing bull people.
Personally, I think Josephine is kinda charming. Just may go for her, just for kicks.
I'm at a disadvantage on this thread, since I'm irl M2F pansexual. However, one thing I would never go for IRL is the "Gold Star" Gay Male, ie Dorian. However that was my second play-through because he's an interesting character.

I'm a lesbian but I play as a straight woman because the straight romances are usually more developed and relevant to the main plot (Alistair in DA:O, Anders in DA2, Solas in DA:I).
What I would give to romance sweet Cassandra…

I'm a straight dude, I romance the characters I like.
I have payed through romancing Sera, Cassandra, Cullen and Josephine yet. At the moment I'm playing through romancing Dorian.
I usually just romance the characters I feel like doing and never really because of the sexuality itself.

I am a straight female but I fully intend to a do a gay male character for Dorian. He just has to get in line at the moment unfortunately because I also have characters for Solas and Cassandra lined up. I am currently playing a male character intended for Cassandra but I may flirt with both of them to see where the wind blows me.

I'm a straight male but at some point I'll roll a character who goes for Dorian. I don't really play these games to play Me.

Maybe it's because the men in this game run like angry buffalos.
That's all the steroids they filled up on. Not their fault, they're just trying to be Mr Thedas.

Anders can be romanced by either gender in DAII, same as everyone else. Or as I like to refer to it, everyone in Kirkwall is bi.I'm a lesbian but I play as a straight woman because the straight romances are usually more developed and relevant to the main plot (Alistair in DA:O, Anders in DA2, Solas in DA:I).
The odd thing is, if you play as a guy then he makes explicit mention to having a past same sex relationship. Which is really weird, given his characterization in Awakenings.

I always role play as a gay option in Bioware series, but the options for gay romance is just so bad in this game that I go straight for Cassandra for my first playthrough. Surprising since I haven't played Star Wars the Old Republic since they don't care enough for gay players to put one in, despite some straight relationship have several options.

Yeah true, but my point was that he's the love interest most relevant to the main plot for either gender. Isabela kind of is as well, at least in Act II, but definitely not as much as Anders.

I'm a gay guy and I almost always play as a gay guy. I usually do one female playthrough and usually make her a lesbian. Occasionally, I can play a straight gal, but usually not. I don't think I've ever done a straight male character, even when there aren't gay options. Just can't get into it.
And, just to offer counterpoint, I think that the gay male options in this game are the best in the DA series. Dorian is my second favorite m/m option from any Bioware game (second only to Kaidan).

I'm straigth female but I always do other romances than f/m as well. I'm not my character and it would be boring otherwise.

I usually just have one version of the protagonist that I identify strongly with, and the others are all just whatever kind of character I think would be interesting to try. Even my "main", personal canon version isn't really me but her own character with a different personality from me. So mostly I just romance whoever I think my current protagonist would like, or whichever character seems like they have the most interesting story.

Option 1: Go full buffalo and play a qunari male.
Option 2: Go effeminate and run with a Dalish male. ![]()

Have I ever chosen to roleplay a romance with someone that I'm not interested in IRL? I guess.. no? It doesn't sound interesting to romance someone I'm not interested in.
On the other hand, if you're asking if I've ever roleplayed a romance story between characters with different sexual orientations than my own, then yes, all the time.

Well I'm bisexual so it's all good.
This.
But hey, I can go for people who wouldn't go for me IRL. Rolling a smexy manquisitor for Dorian.

Well I made an Elf to romance Dorian. It's my first time playing a male character but I had to because I want me some of that Dorian.
I also like Blackwall but in IRL I wouldn't go for guys that look like that? I don't know. I think the Inquisitor mage I made recently somehow fits in nicely with him and it just works. I'm enjoying it so far!
