I'm bisexual (so I guess I don't count :P) with a preference for women though I've only done one f/f romance in any BioWare game ever (Leliana). All my other chars are hetero ladies.

The f/f LIs tend to be terrible imo, and I can never play guys. I'm going to eventually try to play a dude and romance Dorian and Cass but... ugh that running animation and ugh no boobs.

Normally only straight male romances. Sometimes lesbian (Femshep + Liara in ME1/ME2, then dump her for the glorious Samantha Traynor.. only to see her wear a *bleeping* bra in the showers, ugh)

Now though, I *have* to romance Solas, so I'm going to have to play a female elf at some point.

Playing a female Qunari now. Not sure yet who I'm going to romance. Probably Iron Bull, maybe Sera, but Blackwall's also an option, seeing as he'll most likely be my tank and I like to take my romances with me, if possible. (Female Qunari is rogue btw, in case someone was wondering why I'm not tanking myself)

I'm asexual but my characters (women) tend to either be lesbians or demisexuals.

Though I am trying to play as a male Adaar warrior to romance Dorian.

My Shepard (lesbian) was with Liara

Amell (demisexual) is with Leliana

Hawke (lesbian) is with Isabela

Adaar (homoromantic demisexual) is with Josephine

Demisexual?

Is that a really odd word for bisexual?

It usually refers to people who only form sexual attraction after establishing a deep romantic relationship first.  I believe.

A a straight white cis-gendered extremely heterosexual man IRL, I love doing ALL of the romances in the game so long as they're good stories. The actual sexes and genders of the people involved really has Zero effect on my real life preferences.

I absolutely love Dorian and Sera romances because they are both awesome characters. Cullen and Cassandra were amazingly cute and fluffy romance arcs that I enjoyed playing through being drowned in their respective sweetness. Currently I'm riding the Bull as hard as possible with my female elf mage. And Josie, hell that's got Disney Princess Romance all over it; I mean that in a good way, believe me.

I don't find it the least bit weird or awkward. These romances create amazing stories, and it would be plain stupid of me to avoid them just because they don't match my own real world preferences.

Bisexual female, but my favorite romance is Dorian. Lucky I like the male VAs a lot, because I usually have a much harder time playing male.

I must admit that I have had reservations about going gay in these games earlier in life, but I think that's mostly because I never *had* to play it gay to romance characters I liked.

Kaidan, Anders, Zevran and Fenris were all bisexual and Steve Cortez was so bland that I never bothered.

I did try it out with Anders once, but didn't feel like it was... unique? enough. I look forward to how Dorian turns out.

Besides, I'm far away from old envioments that I used to identify with, I used to go to school in a area filled with racists and homophobes so it influenced how I acted about such things, I am happy to not be there anymore.

I'm gay and I romanced (so far):

A. Dorian, would romance him in RL I suppose, we share the same humor, great fashion sense etc. etc.

B. Cullen, I suppose he's awkwardly cute & loyal. He has some humor (i.e. laughs at things (cf. Cassandra, Solas)), so I would give dating a chance with him.

So yea, these two I'd be interested in but I suppose I have roleplayed as a female for Cullen.

C. Iron Bull. I roleplayed a character for him I guess, seeing as irl I wouldn't fall for his type. He is a genuinely good guy I believe, but I'd always go for a bit more "class" (?), plus the dominant side (not sexually per se) of him in a relationship isn't my thing.

I usually just have one version of the protagonist that I identify strongly with, and the others are all just whatever kind of character I think would be interesting to try.

Pretty much this. Now that I've finished my Cullen-loving mage playthrough it's time for some Dorian romancing, because my life needs moar Dorian in it!

I'm trying... and struggling…

Maybe it's because the men in this game run like angry buffalos.

Play a qunari, then it fits perfectly because you ARE an angry buffalo. ;)

Preferences schmefrences.  Depends on the PC and whether I like the character that can be romanced, not necessarily my IRL orientation (although that obviously influences some choices).

I'll try every bit of content once which usually means playing characters which I wouldn't usually play in normal circumstances. When it comes to bisexual romances, I tend to favor making m/f character pairings though.

Wow. Didn't expect that to take off the way it did! Glad to see so many open minded people responding. :)
And after considering the adorkable romantic that's buried under all that stabbity Seeker stuff, I just have to romance Cassandra one of these days. Who knew she loved trashy romance novels?

Ah, what I wouldn't give to play like my Hawke.... she did the elf in the bordello; hooked up with Isabella; then got into a relationship with Anders (fingers crossed); then met up with Zevran and had a threesome with Zevran and Isabella. But the Herald of Andraste should be more chaste.

As a gay male, I play gay guys first when possible (and I'm aghast at the Cortez being bland comment, but to each his own). Then I play a female version. After that, it's whatever.

In this game it's Bull with a Male Qunari mage, Dorian with an elf rogue, and after that, probably Cullen, then definitely Cassandra with either a human warrior/templar or mage. Haven't decided on that one. My BF is playing as a dwarf female warrior who's going for Blackwall.

I'm bisexual, and female. The only character I have a hard time playing are male ones. Though I'm going to suck it up for Dorian.

I'm female and my first male Inquisitor play through is totally dedicated to Dorian. I'm excited about it.

As it is, my female Inquisitor and he are platonic life partners. They love flirting just for fun. It's perfect.

Thank you, Gaider!

I'm a heterosexual woman. I romanced everyone in DAO and DA2, playing a mix of genders and orientations, and plan to do the same in DAI. (Only got as far as bisexual dwarf romancing Blackwall, so far. Give me time.)

I find it easier to roleplay a bisexual of any gender, a lesbian or a gay man than a straight man - somehow 'I am a man and I'm only attracted to women' is often a bridge too far for me when it comes to identifying with the character I'm playing.

This is the first Bio game that I've played where I really want to try out all the different romances. They all seem like fantastic characters, romanced or not, but I dunno, that's eight playthroughs, and at the rate I'm going not only will ME:Next be released by then, but DA4 as well. Still, it's Sera this time, Cassandra next time, then... we'll see.
