So, I'm in Crestwood, at Caer Bronach. I gather my party and head to the Hilltop Farm in order to fight baddies, save the day, so on and so forth.

And two of my party -- the ranged two, to be specific, are nowhere near me. I check the map, and I'll be damned -- they're back at the Caer!

This is, by no means, the only time this has happened to me, but it's the one that finally prompted me to say "enough's enough." Guys, if you can't fix the pathing so my party stays with me ON ROADS, then at LEAST fix the snap-to so I don't engage in battle (which has happened way more frequently than I like to think of!) with only one, or even none, of my party around me.

That happens more often than I can comment, and I've been killed more than once when they don't show up also.  Usually a pack of dogs/wolves - I have my doubts that the IFF filter to make you nonthreatening even works, except for friendly fire.

  1. On one occurrence they were all stuck at the ladder in the Dwarven burial tomb and two were inside the walls, some boundary issue- Safe to say that happens alot with this unique boundary system.
  2. Other times the AI picks a "safer" route, guess they don't like the jackrabbit moves either.
  3. In battle it's just a poor behavior model, mages and archers should reposition to stay at range automatically!  No need to stunt that common knowledge.

I have not seen any issues like incompatible mods in Skyrim affecting pathfinding, but a lot of areas seem poorly developed -dead ends on the AI route and the like. But I don't have a tool to check it either.

i don't run any mods, so that shouldn't be an issue. like i said above; some snap-to command if they're more than ... oh, 10 feet? away from me when i enter combat MIGHT just be useful.
