Well, they are different. KP is easier to predict and control, and it have its awesome upgrade , which leaves target in slumber for some seconds before it wakes even if it been damaged. The downsides is that it have cone shape and it can be cast from your loc, while KB have quite long range. 

KB also provides greater flanking bonus, but i think its worse some than KPs upgrade, since few secons of slumber means you can get more attackds with full crits using MK. And in order to utilise KB you need MK anyways, that means you need ot have point on KP anyways. Having KB withhout MK? I think its a waste.
