If this is caused by "Dust" from terrain it is done REALLY bad. It just looks like the texture was stripped from the legs and then they painted them tan.

Please make it optional, kind of like Blood Splatter is optional. THANKS! (PS: I am on PS4)

I've never seen that effect on my characters. The only time the textures should change is when you're running around in the rain.

Frostbite seems to have a limit on surface texture effects, if the armor is very detailed, like in some multi-layer armor, the rainwater effects stop working. It stands to reason that snow and dust are similarly affected.  However you pictures indicate that should not happen, so missing textures?  There is precedence!

Here is a better indication of what it looks like:

dragon_age_bug_by_kelleth86-d89zgm0.jpg

I complete agree with that this dirt thing should be disabled and/or removed from the game.

[EDIT] This "effect" happens whenever you run on dirt roads, through tallgrass or through areas with a lot of building going on... And as it happens in specific areas, it must be something that is intentionally in the game and can therefor be disabled.

Just going to add this: After more testing, I can tell that this is a bug... The mud that is supposed to be added to the boots is not showing, it is in fact glicthing and just giving us the tan look.

I know because my companions just had their lower halves covered in mud, actual mud, not tan colered armor.

All we need now is a fix =D

Makes me cry a little inside every time I see it.

But as I said earlier, it is bugged, as the actual dirt/mud isn't being applied to the boots, it just turns tan.

It works on companions though, their boots and armor gets covered in actual dirt/mud instead of getting the tan look, so it is just a matter of fixing it, or even better, turning it completely off.

If I had to pick between a fix and disabling it, I'd pick the disable option =)

Me too, like with the blood.

Indeed, I wonder why this wasn't put in as an option in the first place.

I checked my videos of cutscenes made before second patch and hotfix, there wasn't such bug, it's appeared after.

And if "Polygon mesh" is on normal boots are in normal appereance, without such bug/glitch, but if on high, or ultra bug shows up.
But on normal hairs like from plastic.

I've had this bug from since before the patch, however, I didn't notice it as much as I was using white armor, and that appearantly negates the tan look bug.

Every other color turns tan though, no idea why.

And I have even been bugging them on Twitter about it, but I have gotten no response about it sadly.

I've had this problem since launch, and for a visual perfectionist like me it's really distracting. It seems to be random and affects my whole party. Using ultra meshes and ultra/fade-touched textures.

Well?  It' might be the lighting effects that are used in each zone, being different.

For example:  My pants / boots are light brown in Haven, but dark brown / black in Hinterlands.

No - on my phone, waiting in line.  Bandwidth is limited...

My pants /boots have ALWAYs been tan in Haven.  Even when just zoning in.  There is no mud on anyone.

In Oasis I see mud  splatter just fine, and the color of the pants boots, are correct.

They have not always been tan in Haven no, but they have an extremely high rate of going tan, as you just have to touch the roads and then your boots turn tan, if you stay off the roads and stick to the snow, they do not turn tan, in haven anyway.

I contacted EA Customer service and they told me to report it here... *sigh* I just hope this gets patched cause its very frustrating to have so many leather and fabric options to customize your armor... then your pants are just tan all the time -.-

Updated first post with better examples.

Would like to see this adjusted or fixed as well. Noticed in the exalted plains on my elf in red Elven scout armor i could run a few steps the boots and lower armor part would go from my red color to the full on tan effect. Then if you stand still you can see the colors flicker and eventually get back to normal, though that doesnt always work.

I am going to be very disappointed if this is not removed by the next patch.

The more I play, the more I seem to notice it and I almost don't want to use roads anymore as I know I have to save and load before a conversation as to avoid the whole mismatch look of the armor.

BioWare might not be willing to remove or disable this (they probably spent a lot of time and resources to get it working in the first place!) but hopefully the new modding initiative will pick up and this is one of the things they'll be able to tamper with.

I hope this gets looked at as this is extremely annoying. I rather they disable the crappy mud effect if it is causing this tan crap. Or some modder removes or makes a completely transparent texture for the mud.
