I hope this gets looked at as this is extremely annoying. I rather they disable the crappy mud effect if it is causing this tan crap. Or some modder removes or makes a completely transparent texture for the mud.

Right at this very moment, modders are our best hope.

But my fingers are still crossed that the devs disables it entirely so all platforms does not suffer from this... Crap(Best word I have for it).

I'm on a PC, everything set to Ultra.

The lower half of my character's body will turn entirely tan. Not just get mud effects, but will loose ALL color and turn into this texture-less tan color.

This usually will only happen to my main character, but in rare occurrences will happen to all of my party.

A fix is to lower the mesh quality to medium, but at that point it takes out so much of the rest of the detail in the game that it's not fun to play anymore.

This is entirely distracting and I haven't seen or heard of any response from EA or Bioware yet.

Please help!

Bumping this. Frustrated to spend time crafting nice looking gear for everyone and then it ends up murky gradient beige for 3/4 of the game. Wouldn't mind a mud/dust effect if it looked anything like, well, mud/dust. This just looks like someone forgot to fill a line and the color is bleeding the damn off.

Bumping this again /= there's no workaround to this bug yet?

I think I know a *possible* workaround (not really).

I've been TESTING around....

I made a NEW GAME *default world state*. And right after cassandra and my inquisitor opened that first gate out of haven, while running up that pathway before the bridge collapse, the boots turned tan. Right after falling down the bridge collapse, it went back to normal mercenary boots colour (dark/black). It didnt change since then. Even when solas used the inquisitor's hand to close the rift for the first time.

I tested this "default world state method" 2 times with rogue/warrior with the same positive result. Its as if it happens less with the default world state character.

Now, I started a new game using a custom world state, or other people's save files (from nexus for example), i tested this. Running up that same path, the pants turn tan throughout the whole mission and never faded back to normal color.

Basically I have a theory its related to custom world states somehow (as far as the duration of this dust effect).

Can anyone else test this?

Here's mine:

I found it even happens when you're just walking, not running.

Also, interestingly, when it happens in the prologue to your mercenary coat, if you stand still it'll slowly revert back to black/grey. But that only happens there, as far as I can tell.

It took a long time before I realized the merc coat was supposed to have black pants, not tan.

Turning mesh quality to Medium does the trick but you have to endure the shiny metallic hair /=

Just as an addition to this, has anyone else noticed strange things with the Battlemaster armour on Cassandra? It seems to me that after running around a bit, the lower part of her flappy tabard disappears. I'm thinking it may be related to this.

Why is this still a problem! It is something so basic and so simple that so many people are upset about! It should have been resolved a long time ago and I hope that they fix it in the next patch. It is so annoying not being able to enjoy the colours of your outfit because it just reverts. I know in comparison to some things it is a relatively small issue and it is just about my only problem with the game but it still need addressing... desperately! Bioware, fix it, NOW!

There is a mod that fixes this weirdness, aptly named No Dirt Buildup on Pants. It's on Nexus. It's not a bug, but actually meant to be a dirt/dust effect.

I love that mod, but, sadly, it won't solve the console users' problems.

I'll need to try to track down a source, but I'd read that was an intended feature for the game to make it more realistic.  After all, you can't run around in the field and stay clean all the time.

Yeah, I hate it.  I've got that modded, but I'd like to see if the devs are willing to shut it off.

Right. Because walking through the dirt for 8 steps always results in me being totally covered up to my waist in dust in real life, too.

This needs a toggle.

  Agreed.  This is one of the few areas where a toggle would be welcome by me.
