GAME SPOILERS AHOY

I started a second game a week ago, beforehand I painstakingly created a world in The Keep to import since I didn't do that on my first playthrough.  I purposefully selected choices that would result in different outcomes.  I chose a female Hawke warrior - in game, a male mage shows up.  My Hero of Ferelden was still alive as Alistair's mistress after he was made king - in game she's described as dying a hero.  I could go on but basically it seems like I'm stuck with default DA:O and DA2 choices.  I also made it so Morrigan has the OGB (that's why the Hero of Ferelden lives) but I haven't gotten to that scene yet, I suspect he won't show up either.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I'm confident the right account is linked with my PSN and it gave me the confirmation that the Keep had imported at the beginning.

I had trouble with Keep, restarted twice for various reasons.

This last start, instead of editing the default, I created a new state slot, edited that, and imported it.

Got the game state I'd created.

On PC.

Ugh.  I was too far into the playthrough to restart once I realized what was happening.   I'm on PS3.  I don't know if I can do a third playthrough, I already feel like I've devoted way too much time to this game, as much as I love it.

On The Keep it says you can incorporate it at any time into your game, but that doesn't seem right.  Isn't it a one and done thing at the beginning?  I just can't imagine how the game file would be able to adapt once your decisions are set.

I can only assume you're misinterpreting something. It only takes it into account at New Game.

I wish I could offer assistance but I was just like AzureAardvark. When I started messing with the Keep I had all kinds of problems with getting my options to stick. I just deleted and restarted.

You're also right, I can't image you being able to import new Keep information into a game that is already started. That wouldn't make tons of sense.

You have the save file loaded into your Keep.  Did you remember to Export it after loading it into Keep?  The default has Dalish elf who US'ed, Male mage Hawke.  There is a way you can check to see what world state is on your game.  Go to Redcliffe.  In the center of town is a griffon statue, a memorial to the HoF.  Claiming it will give you a codex on the HoF.  if it says your hero was a Dalish who died, then you are using the default world state.

If this is the case, and you want your own custom world state to appear, a new game will have to be started, you can't change the world state once you have selected it to import into the game.  But first go to keep and make sure you EXPORT the save, just having it loaded in the the keep isn't enough.

Some people have fixed it by creating a second duplicate and then exporting it

Ahhh nuts.  That was it - I didn't export first.   I do wish that at the beginning of the game it would give you an error if there's nothing to import instead of the "success" prompt.  Thanks!

I'm looking at it now - you can upload The Keep at any time to your current save slot, but it does say that it only affects new games.

You're very welcome, and don't feel bad, I've responded to several people who did the same thing.  And the only reason I know all this is because I did it myself the first time I switched over from my canon Surana mistress to King Cousland world state.  I had to restart my game after exporting the world state.

On the plus side I now never forget to do so, and hopefully it will be the same for you.  I tend to learn better from mistakes than when I get something right the first time.
