I regret picking a mage for my class seriously, they just suck, they dont do nearly half they damage they did in previous games and dosent compensate in defense either, the damage they do is pretty much crap and not only that enemies resistances are Over Powered leaving you useless in some fights with your "amazing auto attacks".
We all know knight enchanters are the way to go, BUT THAT IS SAD, because knight enchanter is more like a paladin not a mage and he can endure but dont do any damage, rift mage and necromancer dont have either damage or survivality, try to kill a dragon with those 2, you are just wasting a slot you could have use for a better class.
Most of the time i feel im just there to do some stupid "control" which is kind of useless since my tank is going to hold the aggro any way and autoattacking, if i would want to auto attack i would have picked a melee class yet they screwed up 2 systems that are hurting mages bassically, 3 with the damage reduction:
1- DAMAGE (already explained)
2- 8 SKILL SLOTS MAX - Are you kidding me?, how more dumbed down this franchise can be, seriously mages are all about having a LOT of ways to deal with enemies, with 8 slots only you just cant do it, you just cant play a mage properly, its DUMB, you will be stuck autoattacking when you dont have the mana or when your attacks are being resisted because you lack slots to put more elements in.
3- DUMBED DOWN WILLPOWER- So now will power bassically dosent affect mana in any way, gives damage too? WHY?, thats stupid and redundant, its useless, this just makes mages cast a spell and SIT TO DO AUTO-ATTACKS until the mana is filled to do something else, THIS IS NOT FUN, this is stupid, mages are supposed to be able to use spells and you cant do it if you dont have enough mana to do so, cast a spell WAIT, cast another spell, WAIT, WAIT, cast another spell, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAAAAAAIIIIIT!!!.
Three idiotic changes that destroyed mages in this game.
