But I am thinking of turning Iron Bull into a sword and shield user. They just seem to have a better defense. Blackwall tanks so much better than Bull. Cassandra as well, but Cassandra is a terrible tank compared to the both of them.

Thus the respec amulets come in amazingly handy.
You can make them into whatever you want.
So not really counter productive since you can just respec him completely without having the wasted 2h skills.

Blackwall will tank better than him regardless, because Champions are insane, but he'll do just fine, sure.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to do this if you already have a better tank in Blackwall? Just to have Bull around as a companion?
