Arcane non-warrior build?

I'm thinking about playing my arcane warrior differently. With the usual melee build, it's just 1 main skill and 2-3 utility skills, leaving little room for using all the other interesting skills on this character. Inspired by the CC/combo builds of the keeper, I want to build a caster arcane warrior using mainly CC/weakening skills, setting up/detonating combos while still have some capability of dealing direct damage.

The build will be something similar to this:

Spirit Blade

Pull of the Abyss

Chain Lightning

Dispel

But since I haven't tested the build myself yet, I still have some doubts.

1. Is it better to ditch spirit blade entirely if I want to mainly be a caster? Slot a utility or another weakening?

2. Is pull of the abyss a good choice for weakening? It is a cool skill but the CD is quite long for consistent combo priming. Also, will it cancel more useful status like sleep on targets?

3. Which is better for detonating combos? Dispel or mind blast? Usefulness of dispel seems quite limited when not detonating, but the upgrade for mind blast doesn't work and you take more time to recover from animation than the enemy from stagger...

4. Will combo damage count towards damage you deal and strengthen your barrier?

If you want a pure caster, ditch Spirit Blade and go with Pull of the Abyss, Chain Lightning, Stone Fist and Veil Strike. Chain Lightning + PotA/Veil Strike puts enemies to sleep and Stone Fist is an impact detonator if I remember correctly. Or alternatively find a teammate with a detonator and higher weapon base damage for combos.

IIRC only Eldritch detonator + sleep can produce nightmare combo which is arguably better than rupture. But if stone fist can proc more than one combo in one cast then I'll give it a go just for it being a ranged skill.

It's not widely known but the the combo Cirvante is referring to is Shocked + weakened = asleep, not Sleep + Impact = Nightmare.  It's not listed anywhere, you pretty much have to have to be running certain skills on AW to test it for yourself.  The Asleep status effect can then be detonated by the spirit blade for a three step combo.

I'm really interested in the full gallery of combos to be found because if there are any other three step combos like this, a whole new level of teamwork is possible at the higher levels of play.

Spirit Blade no longer detonates for combos. I'm not sure if this bled into MP from SP.  Should test it before you promote, just incase it doesn't work in MP. Would be a waste if you were trying to build around it.

Upgraded Stone Fist does AoE damage, so I'm assuming it would proc combos on every enemy it hits. You'd need an eldritch detonator for nightmare combos, which Spirit Blade isn't anymore since the patch.

Just confirming, he's right, Spirit Blade doesn't detonate in MP since patch 2.1.

Already tested the build.

Chain lighting + weaken =sleep

stone fist for sleep mob = repture. HOWEVER, repture is bugged, it does nothing at all.

dispell / mind blast sleep mob = nightmare. HOWEVER, its only does ~500 dmg and panic the mobs for few second, not to mention the long animination for dispell. what a stupid skill.

Honestly, I'd still keep spirit blade if, for nothing else, than to return the 6 volleys of arrows the lines of archers fire at you directly back into their left nut. Since you're not spamming it, you'll almost always have it off cd for self protection, and in the event that you need it for units that do get into meele range, you have that flexability to stand your ground.

easiest basic combo is Archer throw a sleeping bomb and long shot, which give gurantted crit for sleeping mobs and bonus combo damage. If you have +30% dmg long shot ring, your long shot hits 1066% at 15 m, then become ~2100% for combo, add basic 50% crit dmg bonus, it becomes 3150% weapon dmg long shot. you can easily one shot multiple mobs with this combo.

I think I'll try something like this, but swap veil strike with fade step. Can't like without that.
