DA:O was the first of the series and, because of that, sales were slow at first but picked up later due to word of mouth.

Yes, DA:O got outsold by DA 2 in the first month.

Inquisition is out-selling Origins at a rate of 2:1 and was just named the Associated Press' game of the year?

Clearly you should hang your heads in shame.

But..but..wait! According to some gaming gods in this forum, DAI was met with a HUGGGGGE!!1!1!! backlash!

Worst game of the decade/millennium/eon!

I guess the thousands of people that love it like me didn't get the memo in time. Oh well. :)

DA:I won't sell as much as DA:O.

You're right.

It'll sell more.

I think being able to read sarcasm on the internet takes some skill. Which I don't know if the fact that I learned it is a good thing.

I assume that most things on the internet are sarcasm by default. It helps maintain sanity. If I'm in a bad mood, I then flip it around and assume that everyone is dead serious.

I don't considered Associated Press's critics to be legit, for one thing these critics gave DA 2 a good score even though most of us gamers know its not.

How do Valiant Hearts, Monument Valley, and Threes! fit into this narrative?

A clever ruse to keep the wool over your eyes. If you're gonna lie, sprinkle some truth so as to maintain the illusion.

And that is the issue, other than Valiant hearts which I see on twitch.tv, I never heard of the other 2 games until I saw the AP press news.

Maybe.

It had already dropped out of all the top-10 selling lists by week 2.

The reason why DA:O sold so well was word of mouth and excellent user reviews.

Apparently, maths are hard to grasp.

And if you say you think DA:O will outsell DA:I (fairly easily btw), you're a "hater". Because... Hater.

Screw your arguments and logic.

Inquisition had a good first couple of weeks.

And the reason it will keep selling is it's going to sweep a whole lot of GOTY awards, including Reader's Choice awards. That and the game has a pretty good reputation at places where people go to discuss games, like Reddit.

I think this is really a testament to just how bad this year was. It doesn't take much to beat Destiny or the other games that failed to meet their hyped expectations.

That GOTY 2014 awards look fake since it is judge. Also the game has a bad reputation at the PC gamers social media.

That's just the beginning. They've already won 9, including Kotaku's Reader's Choice awards.

Not particularly, and I'm on a number of gaming websites.

At the moment just gaming, but it's about to storm to victory in the Gamespot Reader's Choice PC game of the year. It had a 20% lead over Divinity last I checked.

Most of those sales are to hipster loser casual gamers though. The quality of person that DA:O sold to is much higher. DA:I is like the justin bieber of gaming, while DA:O is the Beethoven

So all we have to do is kill Origins at a rate of 2:1 in sales? That's easy! We're good at killing sh*t!

Well that's what counts, right? Screw making money! We need to make sure were catering to elitist neck-bearded basement dwellers!! Most of which will steal the game for PC anyways! Afterall, The PC gamer crowd is so cool and awesome and not shrill and entitled and shitty at all!!

Yeah, also the 360, XBOX one, AND overall Game of the Year. It's losing in PS3 to the Last of Us (which is fair enough, really.)

I think the editor's choice will go to Shadows of Mordor because that's the game they gave it to for the PS4.

So "Dragon Age was cool before it got popular," but these people are the hipsters.  Right :P

Unless this is sarcastic, too.  I expected to come into the thread battling for this awesome game, and it turned out to be sarcasm.  So hard to tell on the interwebs.

Also, all these people who have sales figures at their fingertips - no two reports I've seen on the sales have matched.  They're like snowflakes.  Where are people getting them?  I keep hearing it's selling well, selling terribly, was selling well, is starting to sell well now, etc.  No one ever links these things, and my Google Fu has failed me.
