You do realize this thread is trolling too, right?

Or have you all just lived long enough to see yourselves become the villains at this point?

This thread is a joke thread, NOT a troll thread. There is a huge difference. Troll threads are meant to inflame and cause anger, this thread is good for a few laughs.

Also you seem pretty upset with this news.

lol someone's obviously not happy with the good news

this isn't a troll thread its just a respone to all the troll threads lately with People saying DA:I failed in sales because they didn't like it (mostly because it isn'T DA:O 2)

and they were trying very hard to prove it and be happy with it

Reddit is right. These forums are toxic. They just failed to mention it's on both sides.

You have over 2,000 posts here, but you need reddit to tell you what this forum is like? That seems odd.

Actually I have lived that long, but then I realized I was only feeding my ego. Villians must be totally awesome to earn a great hero.

To be fair, when I read your post, I thought it was serious...until I saw the Dorian icon.  Problem is, there are too many people who really think like that and write like that.  It's too easy to run afoul of Poe's Law on this board.

Yeah lol, I was trying to make fun of those people by sounding overly agressive, unreasonable, offensive and stupid, but apparently my comment was on-par with all the rest hate comments so no one noticed the difference.

So "Dragon Age was cool before it got popular," but these people are the hipsters.  Right :P

Unless this is sarcastic, too.  I expected to come into the thread battling for this awesome game, and it turned out to be sarcasm.  So hard to tell on the interwebs.

Also, all these people who have sales figures at their fingertips - no two reports I've seen on the sales have matched.  They're like snowflakes.  Where are people getting them?  I keep hearing it's selling well, selling terribly, was selling well, is starting to sell well now, etc.  No one ever links these things, and my Google Fu has failed me.

I was being sarcastic...just poking fun at the people who actually seem to believe DA:O was catering to more intelligent, less casual, true RPG fans, while DA:I only appeals to people who like flash with no substance.

Most of my posts are from years ago, from vigorously defending DA2 from the hordes of people I called "haters" back then.

Now I have some complaints about the game, and even though I've never done anything but discuss them peacefully and rationally, I guess I'm a "hater" now. I just hope I wasn't as blindly hate-filled as this generation of "BioDrones" seems to be.

Lies! No one defended DA2! Everyone hated it! The interwebs told me so.

Hey guys, I think the old NPD chart / sales thread is pretty old now so I'll just leave this here.

I just got access to November NPD data and amusingly it lists DAI as # 10 (because it groups the two Pokémon games together). So a lot of doom and gloom and "DAI bombed" rhetoric could have been avoided (frankly I consider 3DS games so different from us I don't see them as chart competitors but so be it).

Also (I can't give numbers) the delta between most of the games on the chart is *really* small. Then you factor in the date the game was released (example: Unity had an extra week of sales), price promotions and sales for Black Friday (DAI did not go on sale) and we sold very, very well! I wish the whole story had been told when the chart was published.

I have no doubt DAI will outsell Origins lifetime.  I'm posting this to reassure people who "worry about BioWare/DA's future". Worry not.

it is good news, will still however still complain about silly combat animations and lack of actually nasty options for the inquisition :P, and still consider DA:O a better game.

I have to agree

I don't think Bioware should just leave their GOTY trophy on the ground. They should either mount it on the wall, or carve a statue of Cassandra and have her hold it.

Either way keep it off the ground!

I have a feeling I'm going to see many links to this post as proof against any criticism, no matter how unrelated.

Oh HO! Is that a negative tone I hear in your post? Let me just whip out Jarret's quote and ...

no one is saying that the game is perfect (the side quests for an example are boring as hell, in my opinion)

if only more people would discuss their complaints peacefully and rationally but I guess you haven't been here for quite some time

just look at some threads with some people wanting Bioware to fail just because Inquisition wasn't what they wanted it to be (DA:Origins 2)

Some of us were actually using numbers and past data.  Others were just spinning a narrative about what they wanted to happen.  :)

Its good to hear that DAI's selling well since it increases the likelyhood of DLC, Expansions and further games.  :D

Reading some of the reactions here, it makes me wonder if Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" is no longer required reading in schools.

Yeup, time to pack it in... Close the Company EA. Enough is enough.

  Immediately thought of this scene from Airplane 2.  ( skip straight to 1:11)

Attempts at sarcasm failed under Poe's Law.

Yet another useless thread.

It doesn't really equate to quality - just quantity. It's on five platforms so if it isn't outselling Origins, there's something wrong,

Well, to be honest, what else can they do? Hope it succeeds, but then BioWare decides to ignore this success and go back to the financially less successful design?

There is no excuse for posting that you want the game to fail in a nasty, mean-spirited way, but...I did kind of hope Inquisition didn't do well. Like you, I think the side quests are very boring. Perhaps unlike you, I think they actually suck the soul out of the game. I feel like I don't get nearly enough circumstances with which to characterize my Inquisitor, and that was the best part about BioWare games for me.

My favorite parts of Origins are the little things you get to decide during side quests. Feed the prisoner. Keep the sword for yourself. Spare the man who betrayed your family. These minutiae are what make up who a character is, in my opinion, strangely more so then the big, world-altering decisions you get to make in both games.

But with this success is going to come positive reinforcement. With positive reinforcement, there is little reason to change the formula. I can't force myself to like a game. So am I just done with BioWare games now? That would be sad. Imagine if the opposite was true. I'm sure you all would be sad as well. I know I wouldn't revel in your misfortune.

Oh please -- if it wasn't on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, the same people would be buying it on 360 or PS3.  The numbers are more spread out because of five platforms but they're not any higher because of it.

This is absolutely a valid point, and I'm sorry if it goes that way for you.  But at a certain point, yeah, move on.  Find something you like.  Don't just hang around griping about how things used to be.

Not if they knew the "quality" of the 360/PS3 ports, they wouldn't. People complained that Origins had a horrid console port, but it's got nothing on the last-gen version of DAI. And before the inevitable chucklehead pipes in with "decade old hardware" it doesn't even apply. Other games on the same platform, and even other Frostbite games aren't nearly that bad.

Once again, I'm playing DA:I on the 360 and it's fine.

... Except that whole thing where you unplug the 360 from the wall and the clock resets, which screws with your war-table missions.
