Could we please dial down the respawns a little?

Agreed. Respawns are not an issue, but when it happens almost out of thin air in front of you or in an area you seconds ago left, it just gets frustrating. Like in Hinterlands where I engaged two bears and with no other enemies in sight. When I was finally done, 4 bears were dead, 3 wolves and 4 lyrium smugglers if I recall correctly. Kind of beats the purpose of tactics. Same in a cave in Storm Coast where spiders kept spawning behind the camerapoint of view constantly. Also breaks immersion, which I at least find important in an RPG.

Basically, keep respawns in, but reduce them a bit (or give a setting for it) and if possible no respawns out of thin air in middle of combat. IIRC that was one of the common criticisms of Dragon Age 2.

Are you clearing out the quests? I find that the spawns go down a great deal after that part.

This helps in the Hinterlands with the mages and templars, but not really anywhere else. The local wildlife is the main problem though. Especially wolves, bears and hyenas.

Getting rather fed up with constantly respawning wolves, hyenas, bandits etc. that spawn as soon as I turn my eyes from an area for 5 secs...

I love how the game rewards you for exploring and discovering little hidden places, but having to fight 10 packs of wolves for example in the EXACT same spot when trying to figure out how to get somewhere is just stupid(like when trying to figure out how to get up something, but refusing to think it involves near impossible jump puzzles with the incredibly bad jump system).

I have also on several occasions have mobs spawn right behind me where I came from and aggro me. When then forced to go back to kill them and gather loot of the fallen, I get respawns in front of me in the direction I was trying to go in the first place...

I am not saying you should remove the respawns. But could we please have a chance to move through the landscape before it happens? Something like 10-20mins would be reasonable imo. if coupled with a decent exclusion range around the player.

I agree, it is too much. Although I do enjoy the respawns - I do enjoy having lots of things to kill afterall, it's just too much at the moment to the point they are unrealistically showing up out of nowhere.

I entered this thread hoping the first line I read was "They came from behind,  the bears,  the beaaaaars!"

As someone who plays on nightmare I simply see the whole thing as a challenge, not something that pulls me out of the experience.  Perhaps my mind just seperates out things like reality vs gameplay and understanding the fact we need a challenge from something.

Otherwise you could literally go around as an archer and just one shot crit everything,  run away, rinse and repeat till nothing is left.  Heavy respawn rates in certain area adds to, for me, the intensity of the battles.

One of my fonder moments actually was attacking a bear,  then I got ambushed by two great bears before I had finished off the first,  brought 2 of the 3 bears down and before that was over a bandit group jumped me,  just before all of that ended I was attacked by mabari and literally survived with just myself in the end.  It was downright epic and I felt like a stud as a result.  I also promptly saved and teleported back to camp.

I will be truthful, i have absolutely no idea what most of you are on about, if anything i would want the respawns INCREASED, i've seen myself clear a map, say the Hinterlands, go to say haven, come back and run what seems a deserted landscape from one end of the map to the other, no music, no enemies, no banter, nothing but ambient sound, an when yer goddamn stonned its annoying :P

I'd go so far as to say there is not enough encounters in the world either

So plz BioWare leave it as it is or increase it

Giants are the worse. I fought 7 in a row before I just disengaged and ran.

The giants in the Emerald Graves, you get to pull two at once. Those things are just plain irritating to deal with on PC. Click, click, click, click, click... Tanks can tank it fine and you don't die but they just have too much HP.

Please don't dial the respawns down because some folks arn't good enough to handle them...  I enjoy farming loot at a fast pace and have had zero issues with the respawn times.  I find it to be challenging at times, but thats what makes it fun.

Do not touch respawns please.

It's not challenging it's just repetitive.

I'd say keep a some out of the way places @ high respawn rates for people who want to go out of their way to "farm" but dial it down in general.

I remember the devs explaining how, if you kill all the bears in an area for example, the animals that would be prey to the bears would then increase in population. Like an echo-system.

Has anyone had any such experience with the game at all? I sure haven't!

Guess this was but another lie from the mouth of you-know-who....

Ohhhh I've tied this several times while I was still playing DA:I, and I can tell you that THAT was not the case at all(for my wife and me). On the contrary, the more bears I killed, the more would come. I was fighting a black bear, I killed it and then the moment I looted the corpse it respawned...only this time with three more black bears and a brown bear. They KEPT spawning over and over again; the only good thing was I had a bunch of bear claws after that. I kept killing bears throughout the Hinterlands but their numbers never dwindled and it certainly didn't change the ecosystem. I going to give Bioware the benefit and say they didn't lie to us and it's simply a respawn bug, because my game was loaded with all kinds of bugs, and my wife's game is still loaded with them.

Perhaps it is a bug, or perhaps not.

It is very kind of you to be giving them the benefit of a doubt, but after the list of lies we've been fed - and Mike Laidlaw blabbering on about this fantastic "world dynamic system" or whatever the hell it was called, for the last year up until just before release - I really would not be surprised at all if it was just that: A lie to get us hyped for the game.

Until he proves otherwise, every work that comes out of Mike Laidlaw's mouth, is a lie.
