Dragon Age Inquisition is a great RPG, but your combat system is boring.

First off iv been a Bioware fan since KOTOR, so I hope I have the honor of addressing someone from that great company rather than a representative from EA sports.

Id like to talk to you about your skill tree for a moment and one day hope you realize by focusing on one sole aspect such as "combos" you take away from every other skill within those respected trees that do not provide or set up "combos". Not only does it contribute to wasted skill points in order to unlock a desired effect, the effects you unlock seem wasted because alone they do miniscule damage compared to that of a "combo".

Are mages true powers limited to someone else terrible combat timing, or is freezing someone solid, setting them aflame, electrocuting them, etc. or is magic powerful enough all on its own? Is a 70 pound two handed axe really not going to do that much damage if swung at your face? or will an assassins blade not slice someone's throat unless knocked unconscious?

I understand you have a hit point system just like any other RPG, but the fact remains by focusing the combat system the way you have, you limit the skill of the player and rely more on the players ability to build timing with other players who he or she have or have not met, or cpu counterparts that could never meet the cognitive speed or reaction time of their human counterparts.

Lastly DA:Origins and DA:2 combat systems may have had their flaws, but the allowed you to pick and choose a wider variety and largely more powerful skills, sooner rather that later, depending upon the players style. This latest edition of Dragon Age feels like "here are the styles, how well can you play within them." If this reaches someone, thank you for reading and please take it as constructive criticism.

Sincerely,

A Fan
